Mayflower Connection: I descend from the following |
Degory Priest, Francis Eaton, John Alden,Priscilla Mullins, Myles Standish, Peter Brown, Francis Cooke, George Soule, Isaac Allerton, Richard Warren, through my father, Member 27436, Society of Mayflower Descendants.
My uncle, Carl Glee Smith Jr is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines. His life was lost during Typhoon Cobra, December 18, 1944 when three ships went down, USS Hull, USS Monaghan and his ship the USS Spence. I have attempted to leave notes at each of the memorials for the 793 sailors who lost their lives that day. I also see many other memorials that no one has left flowers or honored them, I am also honoring those as I have time. There are over 44,033 memorials at that cemetery. May God bless the thousands of families who suffered loss during WW II.
I am attempting to link many of Smith burials in an effort to help those who are just starting their family search venture. Descending from four Smith branches is a challenge. At the present time, I am linking Smiths from several states from Vermont, New York,Ohio to Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas. From Virginia through Kentucky to Arkansas. From Georgia, Arkansas to Texas.
In addition, I am documenting my Jones from New Hampshire, through Ohio, Illinois to Nebraska.
A few of my family lines are Blatherwick, Farrow, Gilbert, Wood, Kelsey, Evans, Blake, Cady, Watkins, Stewart, McCormick, Jones, Stiles, McDermott, Hoffman, Smith, Black, Brazle, Roth, Martin, Cole, Morgan, Oswalt
If you use my personal photos, please give me credit for the photo, this includes family photos posted as well as cemetery photos. Thank you.
I will consifer transferring memorials that are your direct family, but not my family line. I am not into numbers and am happy to share my work. I love to link family members and to know a bit about the person.

Dear Vickye, I am related to the above families in Hardin Co. Illinois and sometimes I come across an old biography for one of them. Then I find the memorial is one of Georgia's. How do I add it when Find-A-Grave does not pay attention to SAC edits? OR, how could I get them to make a transfer? Any knowledge you have of these procedures would be very helpful. Thanks so much and have a great day. Lily

RD. Was my great great Uncle. I did not know him but remember his wife Aunt Margaret. Would you considering transfer to me? I know it is not in the parameters of Find A Grave. Trying to connect all my family. I just sent you the request about Joel Ward.

You have a pic of his headstone in Monmouth Cem. His son Walter was my Great Aunts first husband. She is related to the Deen Family of Monmouth. Her mothers second husband was William. Looking for any info on the Ward Family. I have their marriage info and a infant who died in Minnesota and is buried in Aledo Cemetary

I also descend from Degory Priest and was wondering if you might be related to Elias B. Stiles? I have many different lines of this family and was doing more research on Charles Stiles and noticed you had created a memorial for his brother, Elias Stiles, who are cousins of mine. Thank you for creating these memorials and supplying info!

You have a request at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. This cemetery is quite large and without a plot location it is near impossible to just stumble upon a requested grave.
I am happy to try to fulfill your request though if you will contact the office and ask for the plot location.
Just let me know, or post the plot on the memorial and I will try to fulfill it in the near future
The office can be reached at (901) 767-8930

Thank you, Victoria, for your memorial message on James Green's Find A Grave page. The circumstances of James' death had been lost to the extended family. Thanks to you, they are now aware of the Typhoon "Cobra" disaster that cost James his life, as well as the lives of his shipmates.

Do you have any connections or know of relations to this family? I have a postcard written by grandau, Eva to Mrs. Eliza Rehrig of Burlingame, KS dated Topeka, KS Mar 27, 1907.

I put in an edit to change the memorial number for Hugo Thornley, the father. He is not buried in Greenwood Cemetery (which is why I didn't find the stone there) but is in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Cass County.
