I was born in Illinois, raised in IL, FL, RI & IN, (I was a Navy Brat). I have since lived in FL, IN & AZ, MI and now Texas. |
I love history of all kinds, especially ancient history (Romans, Greeks, Celts, etc.) About 20 years ago found that my love of research and history could combine to help me "feel" my place in the universe. Researching my genealogy, I have discovered a very exciting and rewarding hobby that borders on obsession. ;) I also volunteer as an indexer for familysearch.org, indexing images of old census, marriage & death records.
What started as just bits and pieces of information, supported by two good sources for my "Kent" and "Rudyard" family history, has become quite a significant legacy for my grandchildren.
I have to thank Mr. Paul Hatcher, who had an overwhelming amount of information about my Garwood ancestors. (He even had me and my siblings listed in his tree!) My Garwood ancestors were Quakers from England who came to America in the late 1600's. They first settled in New Jersey, with some moving on to Virginia & Pennsylvania. My branch ended up in Ohio.
If you think you may have a connection, feel free to email me or comment here. I love finding new cousins! :)

I liked your second message the best. "I may be wrong." LOL. These memorials are in research. On hold actually until I find time. But I believe Charlotte to be the first wife of Joseph, as inscription says wife "of J.C. Garwood, aged 33 yrs, 1 mo, 8 d. She died about 17 years before Joseph, and then he later married Martha and she died in 1889. Both inscriptions have "wife of".
Some of the search features we find, are not always correct, but they may have also had a child named Charlotte, as it was sometimes custom to name daughters after the mothers, the same as they would do for sons. However, none are buried in Woodland, other than Caroline "Carrie" that could have possibly been mistaken for Charlotte, but she was not 6 years old at the time of death, but 92 years. She is buried in the same location as the others.
I have the actual cemetery records for them, and have been doing work in Woodland Cem. all last year, until the weather, got to bad. I will try to check for burial plot records, to see if there were any other children, but I have listed all Garwoods, up to 1980 that have a marker, or records. Always happy to meet new lines, connected to Garwood/Boyse.

I would like to know if this Robert John Bunch who served aboard the USS Salamaua CVE-96 as an Aviation Ordnanceman Third Class during World War II. If he is than I would be honored to add him to my IYAOYAS virtual cemetery.

Would you mind terribly transferring this page to me?
Welcome to Find a Grave... this is a great site and I love the fact people here are so willing to help eachother. As for your grandmothers grave I have transfered it to you, so that you can make these changes and add anything you need later on down the road. If I have any more graves that you may want or need let me know. I can transfer them as well. Good luck and Happy Hunting Maggie
