Bio

"Essef" is a husband - wife team which researches and maintains family memorials as a place to remember and link our family members for the education of our own descendants, extended family and interested genealogists. We also have an extensive collection of old family photographs which we gradually want to make available to others. We love American and UK history and we believe it is increasingly important that each generation have a sense of its background and formation - of the real people and stories that have created us as individuals, and as a nation.

Our family names focus on the following long list: Coykendall, Staggs, Maynard, Newton, Williamson, Sedgwick, Lockwood, McKee, Hatcher, Trevor-Roper, Nickell, Lusson, Tilley, Easterby, Ferrel, Blower, Petefish, Clevenger, Larue, Sage, Martin, Fry, Stanly, Berthalf, Armistead, Reese, Merlin, Watson, McAllister and more. If any of these names stand out and form a grouping for you, you might find your own family in our records.

Our memorials are a long-term labor of love. Due to lack of mobility we focus on posting and updating short biographies as time and research allow, rather than on the crucial legwork of adding thousands of new entries. That we are forced to leave to the Find-a-Grave heroes who have helped us so much in our own quests.

Though we focus on direct family lines, we also manage the memorials of family siblings with no living descendants to care for them, as well as some unrelated memorials we have found in our historical and local travels.

Our children have been designated as custodians of our work, which we hope will provide long-term insight and interest for those who belong to or encounter these families, their memorials and portraits.

We are happy to transfer memorials from whom we have no direct descent, to direct descendants who will care for them, according to Find a Grave guidelines.
