The 1st message, I hit the wrong key ~ Sorry. I hope this is the best place to send it. I saw that Find a Grave manages Lloyd Chalfant's memorial, so I didn't send it to the memorial. They might transfer it to you if you'd ask. I typed the obit as it was printed. I noticed after I sent it that they spelled Maude's maiden Brower, it should be Browder. You may want to correct it. Have a nice day

LLOYD CHALFANT

Lloyd Nathan Chalfant, 73, of Pryor, died July 10 in Pryor. He was born June 2, 1921, in North Little Rock, Ark.

The son of Nathan M. and Maude (Brower) Chalfant, he grew up and attended school in North Little Rock. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific Theater.

He was married to Anna Vivian Stover on Nov. 11, 1941, in Heber Springs, Ark. He and his wife wife owned and operated the Family Shoe Store in Booneville, Ark., for 20 years. He also worked five years at Harp Chevrolet in Booneville. In 1970, they moved to Pryor where they owned and operated the Town & Trails Clothing Store 10 years before retiring in 1979.

He was a member of the Southside Christian Church and the Pryor Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Chalfant.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian, of the home; two sons, Lloyd "Buz" Chalfant, Idabel, and Stephan Ray Chalfant, Claremore; one daughter, Vivian Elaine Gann, Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; one brother, George Chalfant, Utah; and two sisters, Grace Buckner and Louise Vogel, both of North Little Rock, Ark.

Funeral services were held last week at Key Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor with Rev. Forrest Jackson and Dr. Wendall Lang officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Pryor, under direction of Key Funeral Home of Pryor.

The family requests that memorials be made to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Pryor.
