|I am the oldest daughter of George Morris Mehaffey Sr. and Hattie Bouldin Mehaffey. We moved from Henry County to Richmond, VA when I was 6 weeks old where I was raised along with my brothers and sister. My parents moved back to their home town while I was in my first year at Bluefield. I graduated from Bluefield College (AA) and Radford University (BS) where I majored in music. After granduation I moved to Russell County Va where I taught music in 4 elementary school and met my future husband. We were married in Henry county in 1984 on my parent's anniverary! We have two children, Carrie Elizabeth and John Clifford. In 2006, I received my MAT from Mary Baldwin College and have taught special education in both Augusta and Rockbridge Counties.|
Years ago I became interested in researching the family. My dad took over what I had done and ran with it. Now I have excess to his research. Slowly I am putting the information that I have on find a grave.

Hi Carrie, I am a great grandchild of Nathan Clifford Thomas & Annie Bell Bethea also. Can you tell me, did you know either of them. I would very much like to know what their personalities were like.
Oddly enough, my sister's name is also Carrie, and spelled the same way yours is. My grandfather was John Well Thomas; my mother was his daughter Mildred (Mickey).

Have you asked Dee for her memorial. By Find A Grave rules she has to give her to you. If she will not you can go to Find A Grave and they will transfer her to you.

Technically, Martinsville is geographically within Henry County but no one who lives in Martinsville would admit to that. LOL I suppose it is the same throughout the country. Most people who live in Chicago wouldn't say they were from Cook County IL. Anyway there is only one Oakwood here and it is listed on Find A Grave as Martinsville VA.
Thank You for the photo. I didn't think there was one.

You have three memorials listed in this cemetery.
They should be here:
There is only one Oakwood Cemetery here in the Martinsville/Henry County area.

Thank you very much for the photo of the Gamble plot where Rebecca McPheeters is buried. Even though she doesn't have a headstone, it's nice to have a photo of the family plot area.
Thank You so much for taking the time to try and find this grave at August Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
