My husband and I enjoy riding our bicycles to the local cemetery and finding the requested headstones. The most difficult challenge we have is when there isn't a headstone! I love doing research about people and places so if you have a question I might be able to help, ask away!|

Thank you so kindly for photographing and posting the area of my ancestor's final resting place. I wish I knew what happened as to why there is not a headstone for Willis Bledsoe, my great uncle. When Willis was 6 years old he was orphaned with his 3 young siblings, as my 3rd great grandparents, Isaac and Mary Bledsoe both in their 40's, perished in 1874.
Our family story is that they perished from an epidemic that swept through Visalia, Farmersville, Tulare, California where they had their family farm with their 4 little children. There was no other family in California to my knowledge, and the little ones were separated into local adoptive farming families and homes. Willis Bledsoe (1868 Visalia - 1907 Santa Barbara) was a Farm Laborer and passed away fairly young himself.
It is said that so many were perishing so quickly in 1874, that the local community had difficulty caring for the bodies, and a makeshift cemetery came about on one farmers land. Whereas at a later date the bodies were all removed to another location ?
Later, Willis's sister, Susan Bledsoe, my great aunt, was unwed and with a child as a young teenager. I can not find what happened to her or where she is buried. I cannot find what happened to her child, Jacob Bledsoe, born about March 1880 in San Luis Obispo, California.
Willis's other little sister, Nancy Bledsoe Hamilton, was my 2nd great grandmother, yet sadly I cannot find what happened to her siblings ??? Please let me know if you come across any local information from your area. Thanks again, Kathryn Moore
