|Barbara Wiley Hamby||RE: Duplicates in Citizens Cemetery|
Hi.....since you own or maintain the older memorial and she wont answer you.......the best thing to do is to write to Find A Grave administrator and have them merger the memorials. Thats all i know to do. If she does not answer you she surely is not going to answer you. And we have talked to James C. and he has agreed to delete all the memorials that he created for what he thought was Okolona Cemetery. But just get up with Find A Grave and they should merge the memorials.
Sorry cant help any more than that.
|James Coston||John C Brady Jr. Citizens Cem.|
This informational article about his death is an historical treasure. It was passed to me and I have been requested to delete, as duplicates, my entries in the Okolona cemetery. It would be a shame to waste this entry from that cemetery.
Please add it to his bio.
Later, James Coston

"Oct. 11th - Mon. - Began raining sometime in the night and this morning is coming down in a slow drizzle. A dreary outlook and just fitted to the news brought up by Emmet Buford, that John Brady was run over last night at the depot and killed, cut all to pieces by a passing train. The particulars of the sad affair as I heard them were to this effect.
He was killed by a switching train while on duty at the depot as a health officer, being appointed as such by the board together with T.J. Bunch. Just how the details of the killing occurred no one will probably ever be informed in this world, as he was alone at the time in the yard. He was cut in two at the hips and one arm mashed out flat from the shoulders to the hand and it was the opinion of Dr. Beaty that he had been dead for several hours when found and several trains had passed over him. He was buried this evening at 4:00 at the Citizens Cemetery by the K. of P. Lodge. He was a good man. Not a brilliant man nor a simpleton but a good, clean, moral gentleman. He was unmarried and may he rest in peace.
Oct. 12th - Tues. - The death of Jno. Brady still forms the principal topic for conversation. There is as many different versions of the matter as Carter had oats, all different in certain particulars. Some heard he was drunk. All, if you notice, heard this and that now start the report, all heard it somewhere. Others said he was blinded by two headlights one before and one behind him, and others that he committed suicide. How some people hear things. Does it look reasonable that a man would lay down on a bench and go to sleep, sleep the sleep of a tired man with calm mind, that this man should be roused up at the approach of a train, would stretch and then walk out to attend to his duties and then throw himself under the train to be cut to pieces. The facts in this case don't fit suicide, but folks must have something to gossip about. John Brady's temperament was one known to all for it's evenness and poise and people are supposed to have a cause for suicide."
From the journal of George Babbitt, who wrote about life in turn-of-the-century Okolona.

That's the way I feel lots of times. Is she a relative? Do you want her transferred to you? I'm glad I helped. Tommye

Thank you for clearing up serious controversy over the lineage on my tree.
a brady came online a few years from Ireland and a window of opportunity came to light, I kept searching and when I was working in Switzerland with excitement your tree came to light, (2010)
I was delighted to start filling in the information and know even better to give my uncle more information on the Brady line, he'll really like this.

|John Stafford||RE: Thomas Stafford|
Dear Mr Brady. I am also related to Thomas Stafford thru his son Samuel who married Mercy Westcott. I have researched and proven from myself back to Samuel. There are other members of the Stafford Society who are questioning me about where Thomas b. 1605 is buried.
I will get back to you after more research of my files.
