"Family Connected Memorials"

Retired Government worker. Doing genealogy daily since 1993. I keep 9 "Family Trees" online and updated every 3 months at rootweb.com and ancestry.com.

I will transfer any memorial to anyone that has interest in maintaining the record. No one can manage 13,000 memorials and still have a life. I will keep only family related memorials that connect. You can be a Uncle, old friend, lover, or genealogy person that shows interest in managing the memorial, and will take care of and hand it off to a family related member unpon request. Rules are guidelines. I'm not looking to be in the top 50, 100 or 1000 contributor list. My memorials are all family connected which is what I want.

Some of my memorials were transferred by people that care, and others I had to beg for, even when the owner never knew them or even went to the cemetery to visit them or to take a picture to share with others, or place some flowers. Memorials without pictures are most likely done from obits and ancestry family trees. Obit crawling to find obits to post is wrong and uncaring to the living. I wish all memorials done in this fashion would go automatically to findagrave in trust. Upon request, findagrave would give them to family connected members to manage upon request. You must show a connection and interest in the memorial. The original submitter would still get the memorial count, but the way it appears from reading profiles of the top 50, memorials are used for body counts, and that is wrong. We need a better method to enter obits in mass and then holding them for caring people to take care of, family or not.

Norma E Goff
Hi,

My name is Mike Stubbs and Norma E Goff is the sister to my great grandmother Victoria Goff. I noticed she passed in 1885 but her picture has an 1896 date on it? I am assuming that date is wrong

RE: Edward Prettyman
Oh, and by the way, feel free to use any pics info I have added and I ONLY POST WHAT I HAVE PROOF INFRONT OF ME THAT IS TRUE--I don't do ancestry any more as I found that one dipstick will add something whether true or not and another will copy and so on and so on.....so IF it came from me, KNOW it is fact.

Prettyman
Hi,

I have tons of Prettyman's, lol! They have grown like weeds lately, and as I find info from old family records, historical societies, records, I add so that those looking can find.

I will go thru my records, I do have info on VA Prettymans, and I will let you know.

If you enter Prettyman on my search contributors records, a bunch will some up that might also help you as they originally came from VA...my cousin Lisa, who left me messages on my page today, just moved back to Arizona to that group who went out west at some point early on, and she and I work together to piece this family together, as we are ALL connected by the original who came from England...

HAPPY NEW YEAR,
Hugs
Gennie

RE: Augusta Ann Maxwell Levi
The photo of the gravestone is on Ancestry.com. It was originally posted by someone named "apfamily" from Nebraska. I don't know who the person is so I can't provide you with any additional info. I'm descended from Augusta and Henry's oldest son, James Levi, who was my great-great grandfather.

RE: Did they findagrave
Hi,

We have over a million registered contributors. Some of them are 'feet on the ground' people and others gather information from other resources (previous transcriptions, cemetery records, etc.). We welcome anyone who wants to join in on our important mission of recording and preserving the burial locations of those that have gone before us.

Thanks,
Jim

RE: Wise obit at News Comet
Well, I saved News Comet from Ancestry to my favorites list so when I want to look for something particular I bring up News Comet then down in the "keyword" search section enter a name or word in quotes and that usually gets me close. May have to search through a couple of pages to find what I'm looking for though.
Since I knew the approximate obit date for Verna Wise I was able to go to the calendar and search through the days. Hope this helps. There are probably easier ways for the computer savvy folks.

Barbara
