A Problem
Hello Stephanie...there is a mix up here. This Ken Strong is not the one you have with all the information. This headstone is someone else's.

Shirley Beamer Strong is alive and well living in Oregon. She is my aunt and just turned 93! She still drives herself to church.

Please find the correct information for this couple. Thanks!

William Sloan
I did find a William Sloan in New Hope Cemetery but the dates are not the same. His middle name is Baker and he shares a head stone with Mittie Hart Sloan. If this is the right person let me know. I did take pictures of these two graves. If not I will go back to look again.
I also could not find a grave for Elizabeth Lanier. It could be unmarked.

George Washington Colson
Hi Stephanie,
I'm hoping you can clarify something for me. I am researching Willie Mae Becton Colson. I've found her in the 1930 and 1940 GA census records married to George Washington Colson with 2 sons, George Jr and Kenneth. You have Willie Mae's gravesite listed at findagrave with no husband connected to her(#10469345).
However, a Myrtice Adams Colson (#103590294) is attached to George Washington Colson at Find A Grave. I'm wondering if this is possibly a mistake. Myrtice's obit is included on Find A Grave and states her husband , G W Colson and Myrtice were married for 66 yrs.
Thanks for looking into this!

PS both women are buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta

RE: Question
Hi Stephanie,

To answer your question, the cemetery didn't give me a database, I doubt you could find one who would voluntarily. I found their database they posted in an access file on their website when I was doing research and it was awful to use, so I reformatted in order to add to find a grave since I figured it would be better accessible and searchable in a mass database. It continues to be a lot of work even a year later with all the corrections. If I had to do over I would have handled it differently.

I still add burials though by "mowing the rows" at local cemeteries or borrowing old cemetery transcription books for other states, I look to add pioneer burial info when I can since it predates most records. Depending on where you are sometimes just photographing and adding a row at a nearby cemetery can mean success for someone a thousand miles away. :-)
