Bio and Links
Bio Photo I first got interested in genealogy when I was about eight years old when I inherited an old bible with people's names written in it :) No one could tell me who those people were and so began my quest. I've gone about it all backwards I suppose, in having begun with John Stevenson born in 1763, and working my way forward, but I did eventually discover that John is my 4th great grandfather. And, I discovered oh, so much more over the years as well!

As for cemeteries ... of course they go hand-in-hand with genealogy! They're brimming with history and family stories! I've been taking pictures of graves for a few years too, but those photos just sat in dusty old files all but forgotten. I've finally decided it's time to share them so I've posted several of the ones I have in digital format, with a few still to go.

I'm willing to fill requests for photos from my local area as I can. Family history is meant to be shared ... the memories, traditions, stories photographs and information! I'm excited to be adding 'Find A Grave' as another connection and outlet for the sharing of this magical journey we call genealogy!

Some of the surnames I'm researching include, Stevenson, Richard, Hunt, Lee, Taylor, Plumb, Rattray, Brandriff, Swartz, and Poskochil.

By the way, I'll happily share my photos with you, for you to use in your family trees etc - but please, do let me know when & how you plan to use them and be respectful enough to credit me, WildThistle, as the source? Thank you so much!

May the wind be always at your back ... and the brick walls crumble at your lightest touch! ;)

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

RE: Grant Hunt
Hello Kate,
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to acknowledge your thanks for the photo. You are very welsome. We are having heavy rain today, keeping me from walking the cemeteries so I decided to catch up on some emails.
So far as restoring the final resting place of your ancestors, your first contact would be with the township trustees. It's my understanding that they are responsible for the cemetery even if it's on private land. (I could be wrong) You could also contact the land owner. Email me at with the name of the cemetery and I'll see what I can find out.

I got a pic of Emma's headstone
Hi Kate,

Sorry we were not able to connect while I was in Washington last week. I did make it over to the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery and took pictures of Emma's headstone as well as a few other around her that I will be posting soon. It was in plane site and they didn't have to dig up the sod.

I found out later that her sister Annie is also buried there but I need to figure out what name she is burried under. My notes indicate she was married three times.

I also made it to the Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood on Steilacomm Blvd and took pictures of Emma's sister Violet's headstone.

Again, sorry we were not able to meet. Maybe my next visit will allow more time.

RE: Thank you, thank you
Hi Kaite,

I am going to be in Washington State over Easter Weekend and I am hoping to head to the cemetery that my great grandmother Emma Twigss (nee Petch) is buried.

You had recently taken a picture of Theodora Twigg's headstone and you mentioned that you spoke with somebody about Emma.

Do you happen to remember what cemetery they thought Emma was in? I think you mentioned that Emma's sister Violet had purchased a cement headstone but I don't see in my notes if she might have been buried in the same cemetery as Theodora or if she is buried in one of the other two cemeteries operated by Evergreen Washelli.

I have placed a call into a person by the name of Ladona and left a voice mail. I am hoping I don't have to fill out their form and wait 6 to 8 weeks since I am coming up in less then three weeks.

Let me know your thoughts.
