Bio Photo 1957 graduate, Fayetteville (Ark.) High School; BSBA, Personnel Administration, Univ. of Ark.; MA, General Psychology, Univ. of Ark.

Retired, Psychological Examiner, Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, 33 yrs.

2011/2012 term: Vice President General, South Central District (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas), National Society Sons of the American Revolution. 2012: Secretary, Arkansas Society, National Society Sons of the American Revolution.

Wife Jean, Fayetteville High School '57 classmate and perpetual bride of 55+ years, has been a tireless genealogy researcher since 1970, and retired as Genealogy Clerk from the Fayetteville, Arkansas, library.

We wrote, in the final chapter of the 1st edition of "Boyer Chronologists" in 1991, "Maybe there's a key somewhere in all this; maybe one of you has it; maybe we all have it; maybe there is none and it doesn't matter. What is important is a familiarity with our heritage. Nothing of this earth's treasures is of greater value than family; it's time more of us realized this. I know it won't seem so to the young, the busy; I dismissed it from my own life for so long. I can only start now to resume a written record, with the hope it will become a living document, revised and revisited often."

As it is our goal to share and preserve the memory of our Ancestors, photographs we have posted are available for sharing, also. It is not necessary to request our permission, but we would appreciate notification when a photograph has been so shared.

RE: Josiah Dickson/Dixon, Your Find A Grave Memorial# 6539354
I will look for a photo of the original marker. It was thrown out when the new marker was placed. Friends of Historic Boonville rescued it from out of the garbage. I have a photo around someplace. Also, Josiah and Isabella's graves were removed from their farm and they were reburied in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Booneville, Mo. Unless they have added them in the last little while, they do not have a record of these graves and they were not interested in creating a record. I usually tell people wanting to find them just to look for the big tree that was cut down. They are right in front.

Josiah Dickson
P.S.
I researched Josiah and was probably the first person to get his pension file. In it, I found 2 letters, one from Gen George Rogers Clark which essentially stated that the gov't might as well pay Josiah because he sure didn't. The other was from Daniel Boone and I've been told by a Boone historian that it is historically significant because it shows that Boone held office. I realize that J had some prior rev service, but he was primarily known for being one of the 9 men who escorted the ammunition down the Ohio River.

Could you also credit Margaret Tingley and Glo Smith? They gave me the letter.
Marlin Buelow did an extensive study of Josiah and the descendants. Would you like a copy?

I'll certainly email him.
Did you know that there are two headstones for Josiah? The original one dating from his death is in the yard at the Friends of Booneville headquarters (old County Jail). The other was put up by SAR in the 80's.

Sure, Dennis, Iíve shared it with anyone who wants a copy. It is in a leather and gold binding, and I can photograph that for you if you would like.
I received the letter from Glo Smith, NSDAR regent in Sacramento. She was contacted by Margaret Tingley whose mother had been secretary to the descendant who owned the letter. When she died, Margaret saved the materials. I also have photographs and another handwritten letter from, I believe, a daughter in law.
Eldon Chapter marked Josiah's grave several years ago when I was regent.

it would be my pleasure. If you could photo credit "Nicole Vecchi" that would be great.

Do you have additional information on him that I could add to his bio?

Thank you both for all the contributions you have made to this fantastic site. My family and I used your photo of her headstone with our family tree on Ancestry.com. Full credit was given to you both along with your findagrave #. She is my 1st Cousin 7x removed. God Bless.

RE: James Fisk, Memorial #6892748, SAR Patriot Ancestor #P-158716
Absolutely. Please feel free to make use of my photo of James Fisk's grave.

I'll talk to my colleagues in the Vermont SSAR chapter and see if we can do something about fixing this grave marker before it falls apart of gets buried.

RE: Macedonia Cemetery
The duplicate memorials are precisely why I try to eliminate duplicate cemeteries on here. Some people probably added a memorial to both of them because they didn't know they were the same. That's another battle for another day... thanks again.
