Bera Beatrice Beebe Cook
Hi Don,
I ran across your memorial regarding Bera Beatrice Beebe Cook. What piqued my interest was a notation that her father was Winfield Scott Beebe, whose line I am pursuing. I did some searching and found a W.S. Beebe as a state legislator in the Portland area but could not confirm whether there was a connection or what the W.S. initials stood for. I also read the story of "Sweetwater" Gates but did not find any information that I could corroborate. Can you provide me with any other information? I would be very appreciative.

Clayton Beebe

RE: Thank you!!
I have supercharge on my wheelchair! :) You are welcome my friend. I sent you an email...I actually live almost next door...and my 10 & 7 year old daughters and I are at the cemetery almost everyday taking pictures.

Eastwood has about 12,500 buried there...and my girls know where a lot of them almost makes me laugh as they argue (in fun) that's ones over it's over they run up and down the hills and I sit back and laugh in my wheelchair.

Established in 1890, the Medford I.O.O.F./Eastwood Cemetery is significant for its association with the earliest period of settlement and development of Medford and is one of several established by the fraternal organization in Oregon. Its period of historical significance comprises the years 1890 to 1915.

The I.O.O.F. Lodge bought the land, twenty and 22/100 acres of the William Barneburg Donation Land Claim, for $700 from Frederick and Electa Barneburg. Located on a prominent oak-studded hillside, approximately one mile east of the downtown, the site offered an attractive and practical location for a cemetery. The Barneburg family had previously interred two family members on the hillside in 1878 and 1883.

Have a great day and I hope I was some help!

Take care,

P.S. Attention Grave walkers...please help me and be on the lookout for PATRICK MORELAND ROBEY. 1760-1814. He died when a tree he was cutting down fell on him in Harrison, VA (Now WV). If you should run across his grave...PLEASE...get a photo...thank you so much! For more information: Memorial# 91362879
