The Odd Fellows Cemetery is NOT part of the Masonic Cemetery. When you drive straight in under the Masonic sign, everything to the left is IOOF and everything to the right is Masonic. Records are maintained for two cemeteries, not one. Esther is in grave 23-1-1 and Marcus is in grave 23-1-3 of the Masonic Cemetery. If you would like maps showing each cemetery, write me to at and I will email them to you.

While it was/is not uncommon for Masons to also be Odd Fellows, and you might have an Odd Fellows service in the Masonic Cemetery or vice versa, they are still independent of each other.

Retta Butts
Loretta (Retta, as we called her) was my great grandmother. She raised 9 girls all by herself in the late 1800's to early 1900's after her weasel of a husband abandoned her on an Alabama farm. So, thanks for looking Jacque. I had heard the cemetery was quite old and damaged and it might be a long shot. I truly appreciate the effort though.

Thanks, Jacque, for the transfer - I'll have to get back with you on dates, as I don't know them off-hand. ~~Susan

Jacque, thank you very much for this photo. It's even more meaningful taken on 9/11.
