When I first joined this site none of my relatives were on here, I have added every one of them four generations back. I have followed the FAG rules (as much as anyone does) and would never dream of stealing someone's profile just to add numbers to the "Memorial Contributions" statistic, but that is what happened to my 2x great grandfather's profile. Because I did not get a death certificate added within the week it was released on Ancestry, one of the FAG high rollers took over my account. When I asked for it back, it was then given to a completely unrelated person who now has my ancestor's photo on the memorial page along with a caption that states "this is the only known photo" of them. Those were my words on his profile because I OWN that photo. I can tell it was stolen because there's a watermark on it that was obviously overlooked. The information on this site is invaluable, but the ethics behind how it's operated are anything but that.
