|Jay Rutan||Sir Henry Pettit|
Here's my line back to the 1st Pettit in my line:
John Burroughs married Margaret Woodward
John Burroughs married Elizabeth (Reed)1st marriage name Pettit
Thomas Pettit married Christian Mellowes
Sir Henry Pettit married Hannah Spackling
|Jay Rutan||Sir Henry Pettit|
I go back thru this line. I am a Knights Templar of this era with the Masons. Where did you see that Sir Henry might have been in the Knights Templar?
Would love to share with you our Pettit lineage. Followed line you had entered down from Henri to Jonathan 1693- . We descend from his son Jonathan who married Mehitable Drake. Am still hunting for him on Find A Grave.
Have each generation from his son John on down to my son. And speaking of sons ... my youngest son is also a Dwayne except we spell it Dwuane.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Shryll

|L Salvaggio||Mercy Pettit|
The Mercy Pettit that married Stephen Ambler is actually Mary Bishop Pettit. Mary Bishop was married to John Pettit IV. He died, in 1758. In 1770 Mercy Bishop Pettit married Stephen Ambler, whose first wife was Deborah Hoyt.
I found an abstract of a legal transaction as follows:
Stephen Ambler 1771
His wife Mercy, late Pettit
Their daughter, Hannah Pettit
Then I found a marriage with date of 28 June 1770 Stamford CT for Stephen Ambler & Mercy??
Mercy Bishop b. 25 Apr 1709 in Stamford, CT married John Pettit IV born 8 Mar 1694/1695 on 10 Jul 1729. (Jonathan's brother). Their youngest daughter, Hannah Pettit, was born 18 Mar 1749/50. John Pettit died in 1758.
Hannah Pettit married Benjamin Galpin 24 Aug 1786. They had 3 kids Grace, Benjamin and Pettit.
Stephen Ambler died 11 July 1799 in Stamford. His first wife was Deborah Hoyt.
I believe this is a mistake. There is no way Henry would have lived to over 100, if he did in fact come to CT. What does the head stone say?
|Katie Hanes McClain||Memorial 67436232 Sir Henry Pettit|
Would you please advise where to obtain copy of the Pedigree of Pettit you have noted in this memorial. This Henry Pettit is my husband's 10th great grandpa, however we are interested in additional information concerning Henry. Specifically the Sir Henry title; did his family leave France due to religious persecution; info we have collected suggests they were Huguenot refugees when family came to America. Would appreciate any help. Thanks!
Hi, I would love to get more information on your family to add to my family tree.
I am a descendant of
Nelson Paulson (1800)
Peter Benjamin Nelson (1836 Sweden)
and where we differ is that I descend from his daughter Emma Nelson (1860-1899) who married Michael Fox.

|Jean Pettitt||Pettit Family Genealogy|
I would be interested in learning more about your family genealogy and assume you are a descendant of Henry Pettit and his son John. Is that correct?
My husband is descended from John's brother Thomas and wife Christian Mellows. He has results from a 65 marker DNA test that I would like to compare to other Pettit's. Have you had a DNA test?
I have our Pettit (we spell our name Pettitt after our ancestor John added a "T" in the early 1800's)line traced back to Henry and then reached a brick wall so I am particularly interested in knowing if your Henry is the same individual as our Henry.
