The primary surnames I have been researching are Groves, Loraw, Cale, King, Trowbridge, Willey, Yost/Youst, Wyatt, Wellen, Wagner, Robinson, Walls, Spiker, Stansberry, Calhoun, Hoffman/Huffman, Nine, Walls, Graham, Riffle, Heater, Foster, Shrout, Marquess/Marquis, Somers, Summers, Cosners, Corathers, Goodnights, Wilson, and McDiffit. These families settled in Monongalia, Preston, Hardy/Grant, Lewis, Gilmer, Calhoun and Wetzel Counties, VA/WV and Garrett Co., MD. My wife's and my surnames are Groves. We have traced our Groves ancestors back to the late 1700's and we have not found a common ancestor...unless it is our Wagner or our Hoffman/Huffman ancestors.
