Bio and Links
Bio Photo As a life long resident of Berrien County, and Southwestern MI, I am proud to add some small portion of its history to all that are interested. I have been recording cemeteries since the early 1960's. My interest has been in the history of these older burial grounds and the sites of early burials in Berrien and Cass Co, MI. Many of these areas have been forgotten and vandalized. I have tried to raise awareness of the significance of maintaining and locating the resting places of veterans, pioneer families and the historical importance of the sites.
Find A Grave has been the best idea since the wheel. I started my family history work back when this type of sharing was still free (actually in high school, the dark ages). I understand the reason for fee based sites, but new-bees to this type of research need help too. So I support Free research sites.

Let me know if you would like a transf. of a family member.

Some main Family names....
Angel, Hatfield, Mackey, Donaldson, Byers, Stoner, Staley, Frazee, Tillstrom, Webster, Hawkins, Claypool, Denn, Frank, Painter, Freeman, Holcomb, Stamey, Brannock, Baker, Davis, Legg...(cant think of any more right now)

Just looking to see IF you are interested in ancestry back for Bonnie Smith Painter's side of the family.
I come down from the GOLDEN name of NJ and this is a distant collateral line I've been working on.
Please to write,
Ruth in IL

Thank you
Sorry that it took me so long to reply DJ. I am so interested in historical homes. I figure spirits are everywhere and if they want to find me they will. I do not go hunting for them for many reasons. I am a spiritual person and I do not hold anything against ghost hunters. It is nothing personal I am just an architecture and art decor person. I like stories about homes and people that lived there at that time and what they did. I am more afraid of the living than the dead anyway. I find stories and legends interesting. I like the silver brook cemetery as well. I have been to the Beeeson Mansion tomb as well as Fort Saint Joseph and the grave or memorial of the priest on the hill nearby. But if there is anymore info on that home 647 Saint Joseph Street in Niles Michigan. I would love to hear more. Hope your vacation was fun and warm. Happy Holidays. So maybe the archives could reveal more info. It looks like all original stuff and a bit of a money pit.

History buff here
I am not a ghost hunter and stumbled upon the Beeson family plot yesterday. So just went on an adventure with the entire county and city of niles. I am easy to be found on Facebook and I have the historic homes of Berrien County and Historic homes of Saint Joseph County. and

Also Dj, Can you tell me anything about the family that lived in the home for sale at 645 Saint Joseph Street, built in 1855? I would be forever grateful on that note.
