Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have recently started researching my genealogy. I hope to find family information and photos of my ancestors with help from great individuals who are willing to share their knowledge with me. The photo volunteers are truly remarkable people.

My ancestry is from Wisconsin, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut: Bell, Nelson, Wing, Hartson, Klawitter, Weyer, Quast, Jensen, Plote, Bartling, Knaak, and Volkening families.

re Clyde Sheperd
I was just thinking about Clyde Shepard and decided to do a little research. I found that the American Legion Post in Poynette is named the Clyde Shepperd post. You might try contacting them and see if they have a history of Clyde. Just a thought...Kim

re Clyde Shepard
Since Clyde died in Europe, Columbia County won't have anything. You might try the military records but I've been trying to get the records for a great-uncle who died in 1917 and am getting nowhere.

re Clyde Shepard
I did notice that in all of the census he list both his parents born in Wisconsin and his Draft form says he was born in Sparta, Wisconsin so I doubt he was from an orphan train.

re Clyde Shepard (again)
I see you have the Klawitter family. I think that this is the Clyde that belongs to that family. I am surprised that he is buried in Poynette and not in a military cemetery in Belgium, although the Poynette marker may be a cenotaph.

re Clyde Sheperd
Also, his draft card has him born in Sparta, Monroe County, Wisconsin, living in Poynette, with a birth year of 1893 rather than 1892.

re Clyde Shepard
I don't have much on Clyde Shepard, just the information from the Gold Star list for Columbia County: Shepherd, Clyde, 24, Poynette; private 309th infantry, 148th infantry; Heurne; Killed in action October 31, 1918. I'll see if I can dig up anymore.

RE: Henry D. Bell Photo
I added a picture of Clara Bell Barton Peasley's headstone. Her daughter Lila M. Barton is also right there with hers so I added that to her memorial too. :)
