|Vicki Hittson||Oaksie Daniel|
Hello! After all these years. I now have the ability to make decisions and post information about Oaksie and John Daniel. As his family, do you approve or disapprove of telling their story on their memorials. Your cousin had it all wrong and I removed her story. I know the Hittson/Gill families made the decisions of where to bury each of them. Perhaps they should just be honored and not publish this. It makes me very sad.

Thank you for the headstone pictures, much appreciated

"Vicki, I can tell you that Oaksie was her real name. There was a man named Oaks who operated the ferry that crossed the Brazos just below the cemetery. It's possible she was named for that family. That road that passes the Hittson Cemetery was the main stagecoach route through Palo Pinto County at that time. Marshall Gill was our "Uncle Simon". Will check the book and get back to you later, Mildred Million." Robert, Oaksie is a cousin of our family through Marshall Messer "Uncle Simon" Gill. Mildred Million is researching the history of John W Daniel and Oaksie Gill Daniel in Palo Pinto, TX. I will be in Mineral Wells the first weekend in May 2013 and will also dig into records to find out what tragedy befell this family.
