John Whitmore
Kel: Thanks for the edit note on my memorial, made for John in 2011. The person who duplicated it in 2016 is in error, by placing it in the Old Cemetery at Stamford - no record exists for John, nor his wife at that cemetery.

I don't not make unknown memorials unless there is strong historical evidence they were buried in a "non cemetery" location. Since he was buried in 1648 and only a family record exists, which states he was buried on his farm, that is as near as we come.

I guess I could have added a "Whitmore Farm Cemetery" to Find a Grave, but that is a little extreme to me.

I would certainly accept any official documentation - so far, the major records available do not give any location. Especially the Old Cemetery can be nothing more than a speculation; the earliest documented burial there is in 1805.

Please check the various Vital Records Collections for Stamford, and if you find me wrong, please let me know....I really do appreciate everyone's help.

~Cheers, Shirleen
