Sonya Renae "Mama Nae" is the Project Coordinator, Researcher, Graver and Sole Restorer of the Childs Cemetery.

A Historical Marker for the 371st Infantry Regiment 93rd Division (Colored), World War I will be Unveiled, September 28, 2017, in Richland County, South Carolina. There is a marker in France that was dedicated in 1918.

At present, 2017. Childs Cemetery has been restored with Military Markers, A cross was donated by St. Luke A.M.E. Church, Lone Star, South Carolina and placed in Childs Cemetery. Photos were taken by Robin Foster.(2011).

The cemetery is located at 2000 South Beltline Blvd., on the grounds of Intertape Polymer Group; f/k/a/ Anchor Contentional in Columbia, South Carolina. This large cemetery was once owned by Adams, Hampton, Taylor and Childs Families. The Childs Family owned the property during the Post Civil War Era.

The plant has relocated to Blythewood, South Carolina due to the flood of 2015.

I discovered that many African American Soldiers that served during the Civil War, World War I, World War II and the Post Korean War that are buried in the Childs Cemetery. My goal is to restore the cemetery and place headstones and markers from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Also, I will begin tours in March of 2011. Come and see the work that has been done.Join us in December 2011, as we celebrate the First Anniversary of placing the Veterans Memorial Headstones in Childs Cemetery. We look forward to hearing from you. Childs Cemetery is the site of more than 12,000 Poppy Flowers, they can be viewed on the 4th of July, 2012. "Lets uncover the history of this African-American Cemetery."

Tours are given four times per year.
