Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Kanawha County, West Virginia and have my whole life. I started doing genealogy with my mom in 2007 after my grandmother passed away. We both wish that we had started a lot sooner because there are a lot of questions that we have.
Wheatcraft, Worley, Bush/Busch, Pierson/Pearson, Bias, Woods, Debolt/Dewalt are a few of the surnames in my family.

In 2011 I grew interest in researching the Putney Cemetery located up Campbells Creek in what used to be Putney, WV. This was an old coal mining community that was around from about 1900-1950. I visited it in March and photographed what I thought to be all of the headstones but when looking up death records there are a lot more graves than I found.

If you have any questions about any of my memorials please feel free to ask me. I will give you whatever information that I have for that person or family.

~Amanda

Andrew M Elswick
Amanda, I think you have Andrew Elswick in the wrong cem. This Cantrell cem. only had 12 graves and I put all the mem. in F A G. This cem. is at the head of Morris Crk. and I am related to these Cantrell's. There was a few that didn't have headstones, but I talked to the gdaughter of Geo. Cantrell. (the head of this family who started the Cem.) and she told me the ones that weren't named. She used to live beside the Cem. as a kid and the one's not marked were her sisters. Thank you.

John Peck
You sent me a message; About John Peck buried in the Putney Cemetery; On the death certificate it says burial is in eight mile cemetery. I know this area is close to where Putney is/was but I do believe there is an Eight Mile Cemetery in the area called Eight Mile.

There is no Eight Mile Cemetery listed on findagrave.com. I add your message to his bio. If he is related to you, I can turn him over to you.

Margie Van Sickle
Amanda, I have been helping Carl Samples with Putney Cemetery. Do you have any information about Margie? The only Van Sickle that I have been able to find was a Charles E. Vansickle who lived with a Bowe family in the 1910 Census of the Malden District. Charles was 9/12 months old.
Later on Minnie Bowe married a Daniel Eli Van Sickle and that is who Charles has listed on his death certificate as his parents. There is also a William Maywood Vansickle who has as his birth place Putney and Daniel and Minnie are his parents. But I cannot find one thing out about Margie. It seems to be quite a mystery.
