I have transferred Joseph to your care. He is interred in the Miller Cemetery, as you know, which is where many of my family are buried.I have a deep connection with Washington County.
I am glad that you will be taking good care of him.
Also, thank you for your service to our great country!!!!

Dear Mr. Jackson
Thanks so much for taking a picture of the Mason grave marker.
I spent 30 years in the Air Force but am now working for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. In March, I am giving a presentation on Charles B. Mason and his court-martial.
After serving as a volunteer during the Civil War and being a POW for almost a year, Mason was discharged. Within the year, he reenlisted, in the regular Army but under the name John A. Mason. In 1881, while guarding the prison where Charles J. Guiteau, President Garfield's assassin, was being held, he fired a shot through a window in an effort to kill Guiteau. Mason was convicted by court-martial but after less than 2 years, President Arthur pardoned him. In his dealings with the pension authorities and veterans health system he returned to the name of Charles B.
Thanks, again for your help. Jim Young

1) Thank you for the picture. My mother's maiden name is DeMorest and after some digging, I have discovered that all of the Demorest in the US and Canada are related. I just need to find the full connection now.
2) Thank you for your SERVICE to the US Air Force.
