Self-appointed guardian of the history of the the descendants of James O'Neil and Catherine Walsh who emigrated from Clonakilty, County Cork, Ireland to New York City in three stages between 1850 and 1852 with nine children.|
There are two branches of this family - those descended from the two youngest children - James, whose descendants now reside primarily in the UK and Michael, founder of the M. O'Neil department store in Akron Ohio whose descendants reside primarily in the USA.
Genealogy nut whose nearly 20 year quest has been to locate the final resting place of James - the second youngest son of James and Catherine. Well you've got to try haven't you?

Michael, small world. A few Gilhooly women I've been tracking worked at O'Neil's around 1900! I knew I recognized the name from my research... If I come up with anything neat that relates to this Uncle O'Neil of yours, I will be sure to pass it on.

Hey Michael, thanks for the message! I only just realized it was there! I do have the transcription for St. Vincent (is it the one created by the OGS?). Also noticed the Kotch John-Susan thing! Perhaps one day we will make a trip to Ohio and find out for ourselves. :) Thanks for the tips... If you are also steeped in Akron genealogy, perhaps we can help each other out. I have a lot of resources I've pulled together over the last year that I'd be happy to share.
