RE: Anne Kaufman Hood Cemetery
The Germantown Lower Burial Ground (Hood Cemetery) was founded in 1692 as a burial ground for residents of Lower Germantown. People from the township were free to bury their dead there.
No records were kept.
In 1737, the cemetery was incorporated officially as the Lower Burial Ground of Germantown and a board was set up and records were kept from that date.
There are no records of burials from before 1737. There is no one buried in the wall. That would not be possible.
The present walls were built around 1850 and the cemetery was renamed for William Hood.
