Thank you, Bethany. I had found the pictues for the additional Hedgpeths. You are so thoughtful to do this.

Thank you for making the picture of the gravestone of this stonecutter. Mr. Ray cut the stones for the Hamilton County courthouse.

V.Ada Hedgepeth
Thank you, thank you. This was the way her name was spelled in the Hamilton County Cemetery Record book-but in her mother's obit, she was called Vada.

RE: More pictures
Thanks, Bethany,

I need all of them. I have lots of cemetery information but cannot go to cemeteries to make pictures.

I have found Hedgepeth also spelled Hedgpeth.

Are you related to the Rices or the Hedgpeths?

Was D.P. Hedgpeth--David Prece, Jr.?

Mary's dates do agree with the 1870 Hamilton County Census. If other information recorded about the Rice family is correct, the dates on her gravestone are incorrect.

Mary married (according to other records) D. P. Hedgpeth in 1876--which would have made her only 12 IF she had been born in 1864.

Finding information about the Rice Family has been by bits and pieces. In the "History of Hamilton County" published in 1979, Carl Rice Embrey wrote that Mary Jane was born in 1854.

I cannot find the Rice family in the 1860 Census, but in the 1870 Hamilton County Census, Mary Jane Rice was 16 old indicating that she was likely born in 1854.

All Hamilton County Marriage Record books prior to the 1886 courthouse fire were burned.

I have added a link to the 1870 US Census in Mary Jane's memorial page.

Bethany, I have added the Find A Grave numbers for all of these people. I do not know if I have found all of D. P. and Mary Jane's children. I have never seen a published list of their family members.

I am still working my way through IOOF and may find more.

While taking the photos of Mary and Vada Hedgepeth I also took other Hedgepeth's near them. I have photos of the following:
DP Hedgepeth Nov 1852- Dec 1927
Jessie Hedgepeth Dec 1888- Nov 1934
Cleve Hedgepeth Sep 1885- Feb 1942
Hedgepeth Family Headstone
Please let me know if you need these other photos.

Please add the Hedgepeth Family marker to all of their memorials.

Thank you!!!!
