My family has roots in southeast Missouri, primarily in Madison and Bollinger counties. Many family members are buried in the cemeteries of these counties. Early Missouri members of the Whitener family came from North Carolina in 1804, the year of the Louisiana Purchase.

Hello Jim, I certainly remember you. Yes, I'm George's daughter, Mildred's granddaughter. Thank you for posting the picture. I think of her everyday. How wonderful of you. Thank you so much.

RE: Edwin K. Pope Jr.
You're very welcome!
Finding Edwin's niche was frustrating because, of the two urns in there, just one has a name: Salas. I couldn't find a connection with Edwin in the Holy Cross data base ( but deduced he was in that niche because the data base confirmed that the two niches on either side of Edwin's (with their names) proved his location.

Odd Fellows Cemetery in Fredericktown
James -
Are Odd Fellows Cemetery in Fredericktown and Christian Church Cemetery in Fredericktown the same? If so, do you know when it changed names?
Thanks, KBo

Alexander Nifong
Perhaps you know that the grandson of A. Nifong, Frank Gosney Nifong, was a much loved & very wealthy physician in Boone County, MO. #19050877 & #19050851. I am writing an article about the Nifong & Lenoir families & am curious about the fact there are 2 memorials for Alex. I'm sure there's a reason that the other person holds the memorial while yours shows the lovely stone. Please tell me the story. I'm thinking you know.
Thanks! Annie Jaech
