Kathy -- I had hoped to be contacted by a descendant. I wanted to leave a message right away to let you know how very interested we are in finding out this history; but I just moved a state over and I shall have to revisit the details to more intelligently discuss this - but even from memory, the situation sticks with me a bit. I would be more than happy to discover that our Mary Adeline was married to a different Martin L. Claiborne with the same age/birthplace and so that she has a branch of cousins still out there. But my impression was that she was a 1st wife who died young. Please contact me directly at email@example.com . My prime source document for her marriage to Martin L. Claiborne is the 1880 census for Texas > Montague > Precinct 6 > 124 > pg 10 . You will note that Jackson Bevil is living in the household, who is a member of our extended family, and the family is near my gg-granduncle Lycurgus Williams. While I am happy to be proven wrong, it would not be the first time that these early wives were forgotten so long ago as spouses moved on.
Thank you so much for finding their stone. Really apprecitate your time!
Blessings to you.
