Maine Cochrans in Minnesota
Thank you for the Cochran photos from Old Bethel Cemetery in Minnesota. You helped me discover Maine ancestors that had been long "lost" from my end of the family tree.

With your photos, I was able to make several connections. Particularly helpful were the headstones for C. E. Cochran and wife Emily. C(harles) E. Cochran was supposedly survived by three daughters, the youngest called Emily.  Now I know she was obviously named for her mother and I suspect her mother's death date tells me the daughter's birth date.

The WWII marker for Charles W, born 1919, was new to me. Another Charles Cochran!!!!!!!!!!!   Then I realized I had once found a 1930 census listing for Woodrow C.  Cochran but couldn't track him as Woodrow.  Today I did an Internet search for Charles Woodrow Cochran and immediately had his obit and his sister's married name. Typed in Mabel Usher and immediately found her Find a Grave memorial complete with obit that points Charles W. and Mabel to their parents Charles E. and Louise Cochran and their brother Everett (who is also buried at Bethel along with his wife Ila and son Gregory).  Charles E. Cochran is son of George W. and Louise S. (another Louise) and brother to C(harles) E. Cochran married to Emily R., sister of Louise S.   Two brothers married to two sisters, four generations, all there at Old Bethel.

To close the loop of this story, I became involved in tracking C. E. Cochran last month after a military buff from Texas posted a Civil War notation on the Find A Grave memorial I had created for my great-great grandfather, William Allan Cochran, buried in Codyville, Maine.  While researching the war documentation, I discovered that William and a brother, Charles E, had enlisted together.  I then discovered that Charles and two brothers (George Warren and Stillman) had headed west to homestead.

Through Find a Grave, I found Stillman and family buried at Oak Leaf Cemetery in Bethel.

I have linked the three brothers and their families to their ancestors in the Codyville Cemetery which I am managing.

I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing history that might otherwise have remained undiscovered, or even lost to time. Your work allowed me to find family connections and to continue the sharing.

Thank you.

Good morning Mike, and thank you so much for all the photos. I wouldn't have asked for so many if they weren't all together.

The flower in the photos was a very sweet touch. Thank you so much for being a volunteer.
