I've been dabbling at this for several years now. I very much appreciate this network. I am now the oldest remaining generation of my family and so I'm trying to write down all the family history I can remember. Our line of the family didn't keep good track, so links and pieces of generations are lost. My hope is to find them all, link their names together here, and hopefully provide generations to come with any information I can find to add, or that I remember from when I was growing up, about who we were.
I only create memorials or manage my own kin, my husband's family, for my kids and their kids, in years to come, and sometimes the spouse /family of those married in, if no one has created a memorial for them yet, so the original family location can be traced back. I do manage a couple of very dear family friends. If it isn't linked to our families in some way, I don't post or manage strangers. Their families will want them.
When I read about some of my kin, or find their information, their graves or histories, where they lived, or when they came out west, I feel so close to them. I check my facts against census records, land deeds, military registration cards, obituaries and other documents to make sure the information I record here is accurate, and I note if there is a discrepancy so the reader can decide what to believe. I do these records with a great deal of respect.
I was raised in Central California, a child of farmers, horsemen, law men (in my line and my husband's), and hard working folk. Like most families, we have a few rotten eggs in our family as well. We have had most branches of the military covered in our families, too; Army, Army Aircore, Navy, Marines.

*Note added 2022; Kingsburg cemetery began with burials in the late 1800's. They lost their records in a fire sometime between 1923 and 1928. The existing grave stones at that time provided info for some of the lost documentation, but if there were no headstone, there is not information for those graves. The cemetery as of Spring of 2022 reports having 11,103 graves.
