Bio and Links
I have been doing Genealogy on some of my (and my husbands) ancestors since late 2006. Those families are: Brickey, Buckman, Cole, Cunningham, Gray, Hinds, Martin, Odell, Pennebaker and Simmons. I have the most information on the Buckman, Gray, Hinds and Martin families due to an enormous amount of research gathered by two cousins

I am so pleased that I found, "Find a Grave", as I can add a little more detail to our ancestor's final resting places and, I can receive photos that I might not ever be able to acquire on my own, and pay it forward to others that have requests.

Clement Evermon Buckman Grave Marker
Just an update on what happened with the C. E. Buckman grave marker found on a ranch in Exeter.

It was found that there is a common marker for Mr. & Mrs. Buckman in the Visalia Public Cemetery, so there is no need for the found marked.

But because the found marker was hand made in the late 1800s, and is a piece of art and craftsmanship from that time frame… it was decided not to destroy it, but rather have it put on displace at the Visalia Granite & Marble facility in Visalia.
So the marker did finally find a good home.

James daughter Evalina Gray(Rumsey)
Do you have any information in Evalina after her divorce from Isaac St. John Rumsey in 1838? I see her brother and family was in Iowa in 1850 and I found Evalina (46) and daughter Frances (9) in Iowa at the same time. I think Frances might have gone back to Bradford County, Pa. by 1860 as she married William Jackson Mericle about 1856. In 1860 Frances (19) and William and son Charles (3) were in South Creek, Bradford Co. Pa. Evalina and Frances and William Mericle are entries in my's bible as paternal relatives. I would sure like to close this mystery, and hope you might help. Thank you.

Clement Evermon Buckman Grave Marker
While visiting a friend in Exeter California, I noticed this tombstone out by their barn.
When I inquired about it, they laughed and said someone dropped it off on their property
years and years ago... and with all their searching (before the internet), they could not find where it might have come from.

I told them I was with Find a Grave and let me see what I might find. It didn't take much searching to discover that there is a grave in the Visalia Public Cemetery for a Clement Evermon Buckman matching the dates on the tombstone on their property.

So how do we get this stone returned to where it belongs?
The stone is 43 inches tall, 18 inches wide, 3 inches thick... is very very heavy... and appears to be made of marble.

George Horace Davis
Found more information for George. His birth date was 11 Jul 1892 from his WW I draft registration. Per SS death index George H Davis born 11 Jul 1892 and died 6 Dec 1987 in Albuquerque, Bernallio, New Mexico. His wife Rhoda born 15 Sep 1905 died 22 May 1988 in same location. At least locations of death of George Horace and Harry Hinds (Jr) Davis are in the same locations.

George Horace Davis
This is brother of Harry Hinds Davis Sr. It may just be a coincidence but there is also a George Horace Davis on the 1940 in Artiso, Benalillo, New Mexico with a wife Rhoda. This was also the last location of the Harry Hinds Davis that I asked you about in previous mail. This George Horace Davis was born about 1892 in Calif also. Age, name and birth location fit. Could this be part of the same family.

Harry Hinds Davis, Jr
I just found your memorial for an Harry Hinds Davis, Jr (#76252841 in Visalia Public Cemetery). There is no headstone indicated and burial in Babyland plot. Did this Harry Hinds Davis, Jr die young? He was born on 29 Dec 1931 (per Calif birth index) and his mother's maiden name was Allen (Helen Eulalia Allen Davis). You also show no date of death for him.
I have a Harry Hinds Davis born 29 Dec 1931 died 10 Oct 2008 last residence in Albuquerque, N. Mex and State SSN Issued: California (1956-57). Could these two Harry Hinds Davis be the same person?
My email address is if you prefer to use it for contact.

Gray, White, Mericle, Rumsey Connection?
Hello, In my grandmother's Bible is listed:
William Jackson Mericle no birth date
Franny Augusta Mericle b.June 1841
Evalina Gray b.12 February 184?

On the reverse side are marriages
William Jackson Mericle and Frances A. Rumsey were married 12 Jan. 1855 by a Minister of God, George Thompson.

William and Frances had a son Charles b. in 1859 or 1860 as he was 5 months old on the 1860 federal census for South Creek, Bradford Co. Pa. William was 30 Frances was 19.

Can you tell me who Evalina was and how she might fit in to this mystery? Please e-mail me at Thank You Cheryl

Clement E.
Yes, we're from the same family tree, just a different limb.
Clement Evermon's grandfather Francis, would be my 4th great-grandfathers brother.
If you'd like to discuss this further, just send me an email and i'll get back with you on it.
Have a good day!
