Bio and Links
Bio Photo A native Texan, I was born and raised in Northeast Texas. Until I was about age 12 we lived in Hunt County, then we moved down the road about 30 miles to Rains County. My life changed greatly as we began farming and raising cattle - all new to me. At that time I had no interest in family history, not realizing that my Dad's family were pioneers in Hopkins and Rains counties. My Mother's people came from Georgia to Texas in the late 1800's. Like most kids of my time, right after graduation I headed for Dallas to seek my fortunes. I lived in Dallas for several years. I later moved to the suburb of Grand Prairie to give my son better schools. He and his family live nearby so I am twice blessed.

I retired a few years ago after 45 years with the science museum in Dallas. Now I am an avid ancestor hunter! My lines are Waters, Donaldson, Fox, Lowrey, Foster and many more!

Thanks to all of you who have paved the way and are willing to share information. I'm discovering a new kind of extended family!

Tommye Sue Castleberry Keith, #75518747
Ms. Waters:

I found this item on Tommy Sue Castleberry. I believe she is related to my husband's family. Her father Calvin David "Rabbit" Castleberry was related to his family in Alabama, who eventually came to Texas, living in Hunt Co. I have pictures of Tommye Sue and her sister as small children.

I would be very happy to hear from you, especially if you have more information this Castleberry family.

RE: J W Foster
Marilyn, I'm going up to Old Orchard in next few days and know the approximate location of J.W. Foster's grave. He is buried next to Helen and S. J. Foster. Do you know the relationship to them?

RE: J W Foster
I'll try in Dec. I live across the county from Old Orchard. I have lots of relatives buried there and I always get up to the cemetery with flowers and just to visit.

J W Foster
I noticed your enquiry about J.W. Foster buried at Old Orchard, Petersburg. A J.W. Foster, 1852 - 1936, is listed in the latest burials in Lincoln County has been added to the listing for Old Orchard. Is that the person you were interested in? If so, let me know and I'll try to photograph his marker.

RE: Shared family name
Hello! Thanks for contacting me. My dad was from Vermont and has a very long (1600's) history in New England: Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut mostly. I have a Revolutionary War soldier ancestor and a couple of Civil War soldiers, as well (only one was a Waters: Edwin Leroy). Unless your 'southern' Waters family migrated down there from New England, we probably have no connection. I do try to document all the Waters headstones that I come across, which hasn't been very many, but hoping to help others in their search.

Take care,
