George C. Oyler
I was able to visit Memorial Garden and photograph the crypt marker for George C. Oyler.

The crypt location is now called Alcove of Devotion.

Does anyone know if Lisa is deceased, incapacitated or is now "inactive"????

For some unknown reason, she has not responded to my messages sent on 1/16/2013 and again on 4/8/2013.

Died: @ Van Zandt Co., TX.

1900 Federal Census taken 6/21/1900, for Van Zandt Co., TX:
Mathew H. Echols, head, b. 5/1857 @ TX;
Elizabeth Echols, wife, b. 4/1860, @ LA, 5/3; Lela A. Echols, dau., b. 7/1882 @ TX; Mathew H. Echols, son, b. 7/1892 @ TX; Dewey L. Echols, son, b. 7/1898 @ TX.
(family of Bruce Echols)

Article (partial) appearing in the Van Zandt News on 10/2/2005, on page 20A:
Story is of Garret Fleming's Eagle Scout project of cleaning up the Old Edgewood cemetery.
Earliest existing marker is from grave of 8 year-old Echols child in 1889.
The earliest existing grave marker is that of Bruce Echols, an eight-year-old child who died August 25, 1889. On the east side of his monument is the inscription for his sister, an infant who died on August 4, 1890. The dates tell the twin tragedies of the M. H. and Lizzie Echols family.
An earlier grave, belinging to Jennie Barnes, who died in 1886, has been documented by the Van Zandt County Historical Commission. Her gravemarker, like many in the cemetery, either no longer exists or has been covered by the sands of time. Fleming located about 15 grave markers, though the cemetery was supposedly full when it was closed in the 1920s.
To document which grave markers existed, Fleming had rubbings made of all existing gravestone inscriptions. These will be compared with the information in "Van Zandt County Texas Cemetery Book 4" published by the Van Zandt County Historical Commssion, which lists 32 graves.

Father: Matthew Harris Echols #91576244.
Mother: Elizabeth Bennett #91577467.

Please add the above to this memorial. I created a duplicate and will delete mine when you add the above to yours.

If you prefer, you may transfer this memorial to me at 46885687 and I'll make the additions.

RE: Lawrence in Green-Wood
Please do create the page for Minnie. I've never seen "Craufurd" spelled that way. You'll have to reduce the photo size for the page, but you're certainly welcome to use it.

Lawrence in Green-Wood
Information on other burials in that lot is from cemetery records available online at Green-Wood's web site.

I photographed the other side of the Lawrence monument, but there was no page for Minnie Lawrence Craufurd, so I did not upload it.

Marker for Bernice Boise Deweese
Lisa, the cemetery records are identical for birth and death dates for Bernice Boise Deweese so I am certain this is the same person.
