Although I live in Kansas City, MO, my ancestors hail from Ralls County, MO and I have 10 acres there that I call "The Farm". We go there as often as possible and I love discovering forgotten cemeteries. My ancestors include the following families: Norton, Yager, Spalding, Whaley, Worthington & Warren. I am working on a genealogical database for all Ralls County burials--mother, father and spouse of all buried there. I welcome any additions, corrections, complaints and comments.

Hi Anne,

Could you please tell me your source of the POD on Esther?

Son, Herman Louis Love
Hi Anne,
I sent you an edit for Herman's parents:

Herman's obit:
Son of Laura L Smith & Marion D Love, husband of Gertrude Marie Ragar

but I notice quite a bit of difference in the ages of the parents and Herman, but his obit says they are his parents:

Thanks so much,

Rebecca Davis
Samuel Davis and Mary Margaret Trenter
Hi, I think you have two different Samuel Davises combined here. The Samuel who married Mary Margaret Trenter married her in 1880 in Clark County, at the same time a Samuel Davis had several children with Martha Wootten in Ralls County.

I suppose he could be a bigamist, but I find it unlikely.

Samuel's sons were James and Christopher Davis. I saw no evidence in their obituaries that they had other siblings.

Could you share your thoughts on how you concluded that Samuel was married to both women? Did he divorce Martha in 1880 between the census and Sep when he married Margaret? Martha was still alive until 1926.
