|Pat Beaudoin||Your request for photo|
I just received a request for a photo for a Laura Dennis buried at the Phillips-Harrison Cemetery, Cosby, Cocke County, Tennessee. Unfortunately I don't live in that area anymore. You might check with your genealogy area of a library in Cocke County as they sometimes have info on this or has someone that can check this for you. Good luck.
PS: I'm trying to figure out how to change my area in Find a Grave but haven't found out how yet.
One more item, They were not orphaned at an early age, They were all well into their 20's when James died.

Franklin (Clara's brother) was my great grandfather. He died in Idaho in 1932. Ollie or Olive Sly is interesting to me. I know a little about her but my grandmother had never heard of her. She knew Franklin obviously as he was her father and Clifford, Claude and Fanny but she was unaware of Clara when I mentioned I had found her in the family. Franklin was known as "Uncle Bud" to the family. I have always been curious about James Sly as the family never spoke of him and my grandmother did not know his name. The whole family moved to Idaho after his death and claimed that they were orphaned at an early age. They distanced themselves from him and never spoke of him. My great Grandmother told me a story about a crooked horse trader she knew at one time but she didn't name him and I was very young at the time. I have always been curious about the real story behind James Sly.

Thank You for the James Sly Memorial. I spent 18 years trying to find James Sly. Pre computer days. I didn't find out his name until about 8 years ago. He was a bit of a mystery to the family. The family rumor was he was hung for stealing horses and he was not talked about whatsoever by even his own children. He was a difficult one to track down. He would be my great great grandfather. Wether the horse stealing story is true or not I'm still not sure. They sure kept him a secret though. It's a colorful story however and it may have been an embarrassment in 1907 but I find it a rather enjoyable possibility today. At least my family wasn't completely dull. It's nice to find a black sheep or two. :)
