Born and reared in Onslow County, we returned to the area after 12 years in Fayetteville (my husband's father was Army 82nd Airborne). Research shows both paternal and maternal family ties to this county for hundreds of years. Local names in my ancestry include: Marshburn, Swinson, Hobbs, Hansley, Jenkins, Coston, Shepard, McGowan, Davis, Batts, Willaford, ....|
We currently live in the Southwest area with our son and two dogs.

Just a FYI, the names in your research are the same ones in mine. Marshburn, Jenkins, Shepard & Davis

The Marshburn-Davis Family Cemetery you created has the exact coordinates as the existing Marshburn-Davis Cemetery

I am guessing you are talking of James Matthew Hulse. If that is the case, I did not know him. He would be one of about 330 US Army soldiers ever awarded the Combat Infantry Badge with 2 Stars, denoting combat action in 3 wars. Each and every one of those individuals is enshrined in the US Army Infantry Hall of Fame outside Ft Benning, GA. As Army regulations are currently written, there will be no others that hold this distinction.

It was my pleasure to transfer your uncle to you.
Just a quick note to let you know that Elza Hobbs and Sallie (Melton) Hobbs were my great grandparents.

Check out the entries on FindAGrave for the Cray family listed in Montford Cemetery.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could enter our Costons there. We know that Thomas Coston died in that area in 1814. (At least his will is dated 1-21-1814). Keep up the good work.
How are you related to the McGowan's?
