Jane, we are definitely cousins as Daniel Beckwith BALL is my 1st cousin 4x's removed. I descend from James Fay BALL and Abigail (STARR) BALL through their son James Bradley BALL and Rhoda Arvilla (PALMER) BALL. I saw through your messages that you have been in touch with David of the New England Ball project and with someone inquiring about Abigail STARR. If you need any information on our line I would be glad to share what I know. I have been to Newark, VT and have photos of the cemeteries there but they need to be scanned in posted. I hope to get them and begin scanning in June (2016). I own some books, one from Newark, VT and other various people/locations in New England that I look up in for you in June if you think of anyone you would like to know more about, and they don't have to be BALLs. I enjoyed reading your biographies, memorials and looking at your photos. Thanks for sharing, Cousin Cherryl
p.s. I recently found another son of James and Abigail's that I had never seen associated with them, his name is Van Rensselaer Ball. I am still researching him but he was born abt. 1820 and died Oct. 8 1891.

Jane,

I am the compiler of the New England Ball Project that is tracking descendants of all of the Ball families that passed through New England. My Project website URL is below my signature below.

I was researching some Vermont burials today and followed a path to Daniel Beckwith Ball and his son Robert Keene Ball on FindAGrave with info and photos provided by you that I am adding to my Project with you as source, thank you.

I have not finished tracing this line, but wonder if you are part of it. That would make us very distant cousins (9th or 10th). While I am certainly interested in filling in data not posted on FindAGrave, I am also interested in finding a living, male, Ball-surname, descendant of this branch.

Thank you for all your research. I can add some information. When their children were small and the Balls were running a stagecoach station, they asked their 9 year old orphaned niece, Lizzy Smith (my great grandmother) to come help with the children. She traveled, unaccompanied, from Maine. She lived with her Aunt and Uncle as a daughter. A sod one-room school was built near the Ball home and Lizzy was the first teacher. She went on to teach in other one-room schools until she married Wilzue Whitson in western Iowa. I have photos of Dan Ball's wife and her sisters and extensive historical info on her family.

I deleted the Bessie without any dates. Some one else took the picture of the headstone.

Hi Kenneth,
Can you give me any information on this Bessie Vandervort, with unknown dates etc. There is another Bessie Vandervort that was married to William Chester Vandervort. We have been looking for my husband grandmothers grave, Her maiden name was Bessie Vandervort, married Benjamin Jussel. Did you find her headstone there in Riverview Cemetery in McCook, NE? Thanks!
