Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello from Wisconsin:o) I have been interested in family history and history in general all my life. In 2009 I started working diligently on the family tree for my children. I have been working with my aunt, my father's sister, as she already had alot of information on my father's side. I also found the family tree that my materal grandfather finished compiling in 1952, he had donated it to a museum in southwestern Wisconsin.

I have had very good luck with all but a couple branches, but am not giving up. It has been a joy researching and finding out about the past. I would highly recommend doing a family tree, you never know what surprises you may come across, and the unlimited friends and acquaintances you will come to know.

graves in Eau Claire
I saw that Bill Hart posted a GRUBER tombstone in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Omaha Street. Under it are the father, mother, and son, William T Gruber. If and when you get over that way would you look to see if there are any marker stones for any of the three baby Gruber girls? I can find nothing about them other than they most-likely died very young. Mariam was born on 8-8-1871 and Clara was born on 5-11-1873. Each was christened over at St. Pat's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. I'm thinking they (and a third sister Ann) may have been laid to rest nearby but without an engraved marker. They would have been my grandpa's sisters. I wish I knew more about them. Thank you. Ric Skamfer out in California.

RE: Potential FAG Project
Thanks for both your response and your interest. Could you send me your home email so I can keep in touch with all the volunteers?

Thanks, Bill

Potential FAG Project
I am considering a major Find A Grave photo project for next summer and am looking for Find A Grave contributors living in Wisconsin (I saw your mention of Wisconsin). Might you live between Wausau and Eau Menomonie?

Thanks, Bill Hart

Find A Grave information
Hi Melanie,

My name is Wendy Sullivan and I'm a board member of the Chippewa County Genealogical Society located in Chippewa Falls, WI. I was looking up information on the McCann family and noticed that your name came up frequently as having added and maintained hundreds of memorials in Find A Grave. I'd like to say "Thank you" to you for all of the information you have made available for researchers. Find A Grave is an interesting tool but one that not all of our members use or if they do use it, possibly they are not using to it's fullest potential. You seem very familiar with Find A Grave and I'd like to know if you would be interested in doing a presentation to our group on Find A Grave? If you would like to discuss this further, please email me at

Daniel B. Cripe
Hi Melanie,
I recently came upon your contribution about Daniel B. Cripe and wife Elizabeth Troxel. This is the first time I see his middle name as Benjamin. Do you have a source for this?

OK, I'll transfer, just ask through the "other" item on the edit tab. It makes transfer automatic and easy.

Charles Wheeler
Hello there!

I was wondering if you might have some more information on someone you have a memorial listed for with some existing info already. I am looking for the father of William Riley Bastion. Based on some research I think his name MAY have previously been William Riley Wheeler. Do you know if this is the name of the youngest son of Charles Wesley Wheeler? I know he died in 1851 which was soon after Riley was born. But I am confused with some census records that don't really support him being the youngest child. I am looking at # 47600952. Please let me know if you have any more information on this family or any link to the Bastion family who may have adopted some children.

Jerri Shea
William Harschlip and Emil Charles Harschlip
Hi Melanie,
My name is Jerri Bollinger Shea, I am looking for any information you have on William and Emil Harschlip. My Father talked for many years about William, after many times of hearing the last name my boyfriend (now husband)said that name sounds really familiar. Since then we realized Emil is my husbands great grandfather and we are still trying to put together how I am related to William. My dad has sinced passed, so not help there.

We are now trying to find the relationship between William and Emil. Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.
