Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a retired grandfather (Bill Jones) in Upstate New York who's done a couple of simple family histories. Discovering linkages and sharing them with others is very rewarding for me.

No, I didn't have a favorite in the Civil War because my family fought bravely on both sides!

RE: Mary Stockslager Hart
Hi Bill,
Please let me know when you have it and I'll do what I can to help you. I live in Texas but am home often to visit my Mother and sister/brother. I stay with my sister in Rush but my Mother lives in Greece near Unity Hospital. I'm working on the Stockslager/Hart family for a friend.

RE: Mary Stockslager Hart
Hi Bill, I appreciate that you rescued the gravestone from the debris pile at Mt. Hope. The stone plays an important part in a research problem that I have been working on for a friend that has deep roots in Rush. I have read about the problems at the Fishell/Thomas Cemetery, including the throwing of stones into the nearby creek in the 1920's by the land owner. I would contact Susan Mee, Rush Town Historian, to see if she might have a suggestion. The other possibility is to post the problem on the Rochester Genealogical Society Facebook page to solicit suggestions from the group as to what might be done. They are always very knowledgeable. I can do this for you, if you like. I'd certainly like to see it move to somewhere in Rush closer to the members of the Stockslager/Hart family members. Sincerely Phyllis

Hi, I'm curious about the gravestone pic for Mary.. It looks like it is laying on a tarp of some description. Is it actually in the cemetery? It sounds like this cemetery has gone through some hard times. Just wondering. thank you.

Kehoe
Thank you, for the efforts you have done in documenting the Kehoe's in Rochester, NY.
Many, but not all, are directly related to my wife. I am working hard to document all the Kehoe's in Rochester. It is quite the project since they all seem to name their kids Mary, John, James, Lawrence and Nicholas.
Thank you, also for the contributions your family has defended us on both sides of the Civil War and all the times after.

Thank you so much for posting the info of Eliza Owens. She is my great great great grandmother! I love searching my family history but sometimes come up empty, so thank you again!!! I will be making a trip to see this with my own eyes because I am so excited. I saw where is is named Jones Cemetery, would it be named after her family?

Captain William J. Tate
Hi Bill,
in the entry for Captain William J. Tate, in Gilmore Cemetery in Donora, Pennsylvania, you said, "the death notice states that he died on his job as a pilot. Perhaps a riverboat pilot." Do you happen to have that death notice? I'm doing a project for the Donora Historical Society on the 42 Donora natives buried in Gilmore Cemetery who fought in the Civil War.
Thanks, Kerry Jo

Ebenezer Cooper
Bill,
I found your note: Candice was the daughter of Ebenezer Jennings & Eleanor Grant Jennings. She was married to Benjamin Behanna (b. 1809 d. between 1860 & 1870). Benjamin is not buried in this same cemetery. Candice is in gravesite E-79, grave 1 with no headstone. That is in a lot with Chattaway's and Nelson's.

Do you know if Ebenezer and Eleanor had a child named Elizabeth b. 11 Nov 1788 in Washington Co, PA. Married William Cooper?
