Joyce Allene Meek:
Born August 13, 1939, to Wilmer Allan Meek and Gleda Berniece Ballard Meek in Plad, Dallas County, Missouri. My older brother William David was born in 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska; older sister Betty Jo in 1937 in Plad, Missouri; younger brother Robert Allan in 1941 in Plad. Wilmer "Allan" Meek was born in Brunswick, MO, married Gleda in Omaha after being honorably discharged from the US Army, and eventually bought property in Dallas County, MO and built a home there, the first in the area with electricity. Allan contracted tuberculosis and died in 1943 at the very young age of 34. Gleda remarried in 1945 to Earl Hyton and they had a daughter in 1948 named Frieda Jeanne. I attended Central High School and graduated Class of 1957.
