RE: leanor Smith Lawrence Lane
Hi Luci: Everything looks correct to me with the exception of Eleanor being listed as Lawrence's mother. I thought she was, too, but another Lane family researcher believes his mother was his father's first wife and she may have died giving birth to him or right after.

Two other facts you might want to double-check on: Samuel did not die until Nov 1821 in Meigs Co. Ohio so it's doubtful Eleanor would have remarried that quickly. Is it possible that the marriage year was misread? Also, were they married in Mason Co. rather than Jackson County? Jackson was not formed until 1831? Let me know what you think.

Anna Marie Dietrich Getgen
HI. I noticed another lady was asking if anyone knew who Anna Dietrich's parents were and you indicated that you do. Anna is my 5th great grandmother so i'm learning all that i can. I think i have her parents names but would like to know what you have as i'm such a novice at this stuff. Are you related to Anna as well? WE might all be cousins! Most of my father's family is from the Sigel area. I live in Oregon. Thanks for any help. My email:

Louis DuBois #19255932
I've seen this portrait on the DuBois family website ( and it did not have a given name connected to it. There are no extant images of the earliest settlers there. If he is a Louis Du Bois, he's from a number of generations later.
I'm reasonably certain the 1600s settlers/farmers/villagers didn't dress at all like this.
I'm no expert, but to me this gentleman's suit looks more like it might be from the 1800s. Suggest you take it down; it's already spreading like a virus through the genealogy websites! Thanks for all you do!

Confirm Picture
The picture you posted for Louis Du Bois (Find A Grave Memorial# 19255932) appears to be someone from the mid-19th Century (instead of the mid-17th Century).

Might be of a different Du Bois, but not likely this one.

RE: Nellie Pearl Hester
Luci, I added the photo of Nellie's gravestone. When you put her in Greenwood Cem. you put her in the Greenwood Cem. that only had three people in it. If you go to the listings of cemeteries in Ohio County you will see what I'm talking about. You will see there are two listings for Greenwood, someone has added that other one sometime earlier this year. That person shouldn't have added a new listing for Greenwood because there already was a Greenwood Cem. already made. Her husband is listed in the one with a lot of numbers by it. Just wanted to let you know so you can put her in the other Greenwood Cemetery. Carla :)
