Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Altoona, PA in 1943 but moved to the Philadelphia area in 1945. Moved to the south in 1972 and ended up here in Florence, SC. in 1995.

A friend recommended this past June and I've been working on it ever since. To say the least, it has been an exciting journey for me.

I came across Find A Grave by accident recently and it has been very helpful with information about my family.

Barnabas McDermitt
Hi - I just came across this site and found Barnabas McDermitt, my g-g-grandfather. My mom was Margaret McDermitt, there dad Raymond McDermitt, his dad David McDermitt, one of Barnabas' sons. My cousin (deceased) was the family historian, and she and other cousins thought this picture may be of Barnabas' brother, Charles. Charles was also a Lt Col in the calvary, but out west. He was killed by Indians and has a fort and very small town named after him. It's an interesting generation. Barnabas eventually died of his civil war injuries, and his widow received a civil war pension.
I thought you'd be interested.

Hi, I was just looking for her to add her parent links and I so enjoyed seeing that beautiful picture you had added. Someone else has added a picture for her mom on the mom's memorial.I found her parents and sent links in the memorial for you.

Have a great day!

It is with great sadness I want you to know my brother John passed away last week.
Mom, who is 96 now, is taking it hard. Last night we had to admit her to the hospital as she could no swallow, hopefully it is just a sore throat someone gave her at the funeral. We did have the obit put in the Altoona paper, but I am trying to let people know.

RE: An edit.
I like doing this. And I have two wonderful helpers-my granddaughters ages 9 and 11. It is something we can do together that helps others find their history.
