Hi Ruth,

Sorry for my delayed response, long story. However, could you please call me to discuss Edmund Clay French.

RE: Elizabeth Doughman Laymon 1812-1888
Hello Ruth,

Yes, we are certainly related! Jacob was the older brother of Christian Doughman, my 3rd gg grandfather. I haven't looked at the Doughman line for some time, and there are so many of them, I can't keep them all straight. I still can't provide you with the document that you seek but I'm happy to know of another cousin!

Hello Ruth,

Sorry, I haven't checked my messages for awhile. At this time, I cannot provide the document you seek. I will look into this after the holidays. A name like Doughman isn't all that common so I'll check my Doughman ancestors and see what/who I come up with.

I am sorry, I wish I knew more. My dad Neil Corbitt was Martin's son. Dad is 95 years old. Martin died when dad was a toddler 2 or 3. I have tried to find out about him but no one remembers. He was married to Rosa Thompson. An adopted Indian. He had 2 boys and 2 girls by her. If you have any info about Martin I would like to know it.

Dear Ms. Ruth. I wish I had such a document. I sure would share it. The only thing I really know about her is that she married Elisha Corbitt and when he died in Tennessee, she moved with all of her children to Georgia. And that is information that I found in the Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia books by Folks Huxford. I'm sorry I can't be of any help to you.

RE: Amelia Corbitt
What you show is accurate according to my records-
Amelia's sister, Wealthy Corbitt Pafford Curry, was my ggg grandmother - but I do not have anything that postively proves they are Isham's daughters

C Marcus/Abner Gillett
There was an Abner, son of Abner. Apprently he also ended up in Oswego County, along with his brother Marcus and nephew (son of Culver) Joel. But he was in Otsego for a while.

On further review, it looks like Abner never made it to Otsego County, probably died in Dutchess. Still he might be mentioned in Otsego Land records if he bought land for his children. Beware there were quite a few Abner Gillett's in the county, it is hard to keep them all strait.

RE: C. Marcus Gillett/Abner Gillett
I have not looked at land records. C Marcus owned land in Otsego and Oswego. I think Abner moved to Otsego, so you could try Otsego land records. It might also give clues for other children of Abner in Otsego county. Unfortunately, there are a lot of different Abner Gillett's in Otsego. There is only one Marcus or Marquis.

C Marcus Gillett.
Also, Joel the son of Culver, moved with C Marcus from Otsego, to Oswego County. This would indicate a close family relationship. Of course the challenge is to find better evidence than the things that I mentioned, but records are scarce, especially in Dutchess county.
