Cousins?
Hi, Nicole,

I wonder whether we may be Ducray cousins, related through Nicholas and Frances Ducray's granddaughter Eve Mary Ducray Brunot (Eve was daughter of Julius C. and Julia M. Ducray)? Nicholas and Frances's son Augustus Ducray, Julius's brother, was my great-great-grandfather. My great-grandfather Justin Frank Ducray and Eve Ducray Brunot were first cousins. I thought I would write and say hello.

Four years ago I began researching U.S. Ducray descent, and enjoy genealogy research so much that I began documenting all descendants of Nicholas and Frances. They came to the U.S. from France in 1839 and settled near Meadville. Julius was the first of his line born in the U.S.

I've been putting my research online in Memorials at FindaGrave, hoping it will help others find relatives they've been looking for.

My little branch of the DuCrays in California didn't get much information passed down to us, because unfortunately my great-grandparents and grandparents passed away young, when their children were too young to be interested in paying attention to family history. Also, my godmother, my Auntie Jackie, who was our family historian and had all our family letters, photographs, documents, etc., had a flood at her house and almost everything was destroyed, so I had to "reinvent the wheel" - a task made harder because many records were destroyed in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. The most valuable things, personal letters and photographs that are irreplaceable, were lost, so when I come across copies of these in history libraries and Recorder's offices, I'm happy.

My great-grandfather Justin Frank Ducray's uncles Jean-Baptiste and Jean Claude Ducray and aunt Mary Ducray Wood came out to California for the fun and adventure of participating in the California Gold Rush. They liked it here so well that they stayed. My granddaughter is a seventh-generation SF Bay Area Ducray descendant.

I wanted to say hello, since we have a Pennsylvania and Brunot connection, and we both enjoy genealogy research and sharing at FindaGrave. It's good to "meet" you!

Best regards,

Re: Joe & Alice Brunot requests, Roselawn, Baton Rouge, LA
In the plot with Joe Laycock Brunot 1890-1958 in Section K346 was a Roberta Loomis Brunot 1893-1986.

In the plot in Section F 72 are

Alice L Laycock Brunot 1939
Mary Elizabeth Brunot 1964
Adelia Ann Laycock 1935
Joseph Laycock 1939
Mary Bird Laycock 1935

Not sure if these 2 are related, they are in same plot
Melvin L Rambin 1941-2001
Horace P Crochet Sr 1943-1986

Hope this helps.

Sorry I've been absent for quite some time. I'm back up and presently upgrading my files. (whew!) I will get to your requests quite soon. There should be some days next week decent enough to take them. Bob M.
