I actually did not know that you had a Photo request pending. I was researching Martha Patsey Williams Smith when I ran across the information that she was buried at the Ruyle Cemetery, with a picture of the cemetery attached. When I found that the Ruydle family didn't have a cemetery photo, I posted the one I had found. One never knows, what kind of reaction they might receive. I am happy that you approve

William H. Goebel - O'ahu Cemetery
I added his first name. The correct way to request an add such as yours is to go to the memorial and click on the "Edit" tab on the upper right of the memorial and scroll down to the appropriate edit (in this case it would be under "Name" and change the "W." to William and then "Submit the edit"). When the "manager/contributor" of the memorial gets your "edit" they have about 21 days to make the edit or FindAGrave processes the edit for them. This saves the "manager/contributor" time. Many manager/contributors will not process change requests if the request isn't done correctly. Thanks.

Find A Grave Memorial# 61168931
Hi There. I just can't believe my eyes here. I'm pretty sure I'm doing the math right.

James would have been 45 years old, marrying 11-year old Mary Varvil. That's aweful!

Did this really happen?

Hi Victoria, I was pleased to hear from you, thank you for the great photo of Grover added to the memorial. You can be very proud of him and his sacrifice made for his country. In the drop down for military ranks Find A Grave has limited the number of ranks available, and unfortunately they don't have Staff Sergeant available to use. Many of us who add memorials for our war dead have petitioned Find A Grave and asked them to add more ranks, but they have chosen not to do so at this time. I just put a note in the bio that he was a Staff Sergeant. Thanks again, Jeff.

RE: Thomas V Newman
Hi Victoria,
I went back and looked at your first message and realize now that you had already viewed the people buried in the Lightfoot-Newman Cemetary and was only trying to get confirmation that it was Thomas Vawter Newman buried there.I should read better next time. Like I said before, I would say that there's a real good chance it is him. I wonder why Edmund Newman, his father, was buried in a Hawesville cemetary in Hancock County which is next (west of) to Breckinridge County where Thomas V. is buried. And I also would like to know what Mary S. Newman's maiden name is. I believe that a lot of people back in that time period decided that they might have more opportunities if they went father west and could get some land for next to nothing. I would be happy to get with your cousin on the Newman line. Maybe she has some information I don't have. It must be nice living in Hawaii.

RE: Thomas V Newman
Hi Victoria, It's nice to hear from a very distant relative. I'm not 100% positive but I think that Thomas Vawter Newman is buried in the Lightfoot-Newman cemetery which is just south of Cloverport, Kentucky. My 2 brothers and I made a project of cleaning up that cemetery about 8 years ago and we came across the tombstones of Thomas V. Newman and Mary S. Newman. We weren't sure who they were at first who Thomas V. Newman was but I feel now that it could be Thomas Vawter and his wife Mary S. Newman. I'm not sure what Mary S. Newman's maiden name is. The information I have been able to get from is that Thomas Vawter Newman's father is Edmund Newman and Edmund was the elder brother of Richard Newman (by 8 years) and Richard Newman is my great, great, great grandfather. Edmund Newman's mother's maiden name was Elizabeth Vawter so Thomas Vawter Newman was given the same middle name as his grandmother's maiden name. Edmund Newman and his wife Mary Conquest (Wyatt) Newman are both buried in the Memorial Gardens Cemetary in Hawesville, Kentucky. Is most of the information I've given the same as what you have? Good hearing from you.

You're very welcome. If there are anymore in this cemetery let me know. I'm trying to get the whole thing photographed.

Great to hear! I'm trying my best to clean up this cemetery for all the loved ones. Sadly there are tons of duplicates, but I can only do so much. Thank you for taking the time looking into to this. Always happy to here they are still with us! Thank you for all your help. And don't hesitate to ask a favor in return.
Thank you,
