Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am the great great grandson of Henry and Sarah Ann MacRorie. Henry immigrated to this country in 1849 and Sarah in 1851. My great grandfather (Albert McRorie) operated the store in Brownville, Iowa and also acted as postmaster until the post office was moved. Albert dropped the "a" from the name MacRorie to better blend in with the predominently Irish members of the community that came to his store. Alberts single son, Henry McRorie moved to Sandstone Minnesota with his family and worked as a prison guard at the Penitentary there. He later moved the family to Tacoma Washington. All of his children are surviving and living up and down the west coast from California to Washington.

I am also the great grandson of Elvis and Bertie McCormick, who brought their family out to Washington State.

I am currently living in Oregon and working as a Maintenance Worker for the US Forest Service. My wife came pre-loaded with children and we have not had anymore, but raised those already born.

I have specialized in maintenance/mechanic type work, as a helicopter mechanic in the Air Force, an auto mechanic at various service stations, an industrial millwright in the Aluminum Industry, a maintenance worker for the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and now as a maintenance worker for the US Forest Service.

RE: Edith McCormick Bowden
Hi Steven, would you be able to link my (Find A Grave Memorial# 3690979) Grandma Edith aka Mick to her dads memorial page? I guess I may have to set up her own page, because hers was added by the Veterans Affairs directly. Please email me at shy_blues@yahoo.com. I do not have any information about our Great Grandfathers parents, but I keep looking. I only have information from the "Joe Dan Chronicles" the family newsletter that used to be sent out from cousin Tom McCormick, Dublin, California. thanks again Ann Bowden

Hi Steven
Hi Steven, Your great-grandfather Elvis is my Grandmas Brother, my Fathers Uncle. My Grandmother is Edith McCormick Bowden, known as Mick or Mickey. She and my grandfather Paul Post Bowden lived in Long Beach, California and are buried in the Los Angeles Veterans Cemetary on Sawtelle and Wilshire Blvd. I found an old family newsletter "Joe Dan's Chronicle" dated Feb. 1998, in my drawer on Sunday and read about Elvis and decided to google his name.. Contact me if you would like.

Excuse then, the problem originated with me! I don't know what I was thinking when I created the entry. I checked the VA record, and it doesn't have a birth date or show being born in OH, and I checked my other sources of info, and he doesn't show there. So my note error and birth info seem to be total errors on my part. My apologies.

Your 'note' update for him appears to be incomplete....

I am entering the names and interment sites for the cemetery. I will post them on the sites you have opened for you to put on, if you wish!

Westling Plot at Mountain View
Sadly, there is not a headstone for this plot. However I did take a photo of the area so that you can see where they are buried. I will upload it shortly.

RE: Pnotos
Before I throw this away I should ask if you would like a map of their Plot.
I will send via email if you want it.
Take care

Viette I Penny Allen
Are you related to the Penney's or the Allen's. If so, I will be glad to transfer the memorial to you from Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima.

RE: Larry Nolan - ignore my message below
Glad to help with solving the mystery. Even though I don't know the people buried I enjoy the excitement of helping someone piece together their family trees. I plan to go to the cemetery on Thursday or Friday and will post a picture just as soon as I can. If there are any other relatives buried there let me know and I would be happy to photograph their markers too.

I apologize! I just found where you listed the plot number in the memorial description, so I will claim that request and try to fulfill it for you when I go there later this week!
