RE: Annual's Death date
You're right. Hanuel is not on the census or on the 1850 mortality schedule. He is on the 1840 census for Blount Co., and somebody else told me that they had seen him on an 1845 land record for Blount. I'm sure that he was buried where they lived, wherever that might have been.

The Shelton Surname project is different. We have FF test results, y & mtdna, and the other is just y-dna test results. I will send another join authorization if you want. You can add your son's results if you have his kit # and password.
The same would apply to your kit also.

Hi Shirley,

I will send an invite/join authorization to your private e-mail from our surname project for you to join the group.

Too bad about the family bible. I'll bet your aunt was just sick over it. So much valuable info lost. Do you have any recollection about Hanuel's death date? 1848 seems about like the right time. He was alive in 1845 and gone by 1850.

Thanks again Shirley for all your help.

RE: Mary Wagner King
Hi Shirley. Yes Y-is exclusively male ancestry, mtdna is exclusively female, and the autosomal tests give you cousin matches from both your father and mothers ancestors. Did you figure out if you have an autosomal test on file that we can transfer? We just recently had a gg-granddaughter of Hanuel and Mary King test and are excited about getting her test results back.
This lady seemed to think that there was a "King" family bible with lots of family dates that was possibly passed down from Caleb through your Aunt Mary Glasscock's family. Maybe this is where the death date of 27 October, 1848 for Hanuel King came from?? Have you ever heard of it?
Thanks so much for all of your help with the King family genealogy, I certainly do appreciate it!

RE: Mary Wagner King
Hi Shirley,
Because I believe you are speaking of Mary Glasscock, daughter of Martha Tilly, and not Mary King.
Your mtdna comes from your female line(your mother her mother, grandmother, through Martha Tilly (Caleb's wife) and Martha's mother etc. on down the line.

It would not carry from Caleb's mother Mary, whose ancestry we are trying to positively identify. You would however inherit an x chromosome from Mary, and that is something we look for also, plus your autosomal test would match any known descendant of Hanuel and Mary (possibly Wagoner) King.

Hope that explains it :-)

Hanuel/Annuel King
Hi Shirley,
I have chatted with you in the past about the Hanuel King family and his son Caleb. I had tried to e-mail you but didn't get a response. I wanted you to know that Ancestry Dna is doing away with their program and databases as of Sept. 5th and after that you won't have access to them anymore. There is a fee of $19.00 to change your results over to FamilyTree Dna. I wanted to know if I sent you an authorization if you would mind adding your test results to our Family surname project. You are one of only a few Hanuel King descendants who have been tested and we would hate to lose your DNA. If you would like to e-mail me privately it is
meerrotts@msn.com
Thanks so much!

RE: Mary Wagner King
Hi Shirley,
I figured you meant your Aunt Mary.
There are certainly a lot of errors on the U.S. Census. You never know if it's the census takers error or just the person giving the info who was fudging a bit, on age, etc. I think sometimes people back then didn't even know their exact birthdates.
Can you tell me where you got the info that Mary was the daughter of George Wagoner and Mary King and was born in Franklin (Franklin Co. Tennessee?)
I sure would like to prove this once and for all.

Thanks for all of your info and help!!

RE: Mary Wagner King
Hi Shirley,
Hope all is well with you and your family.

Your MtDNA actually would go through Caleb King's wife Martha Tilly, not Mary ??(maybe Wagoner) wife of Hanuel/Anuel King. It is Mary wife of Anuel that I have been researching.

Have you taken a FamilyFinder autosomal dna test?

RE: Mary Wagner King
Hi Shirley,
Good luck with your recovery. I hope your surgery was not serious.
Thank you for the additional information. I'll add it to the other King info I'm collecting.
I am still trying to determine the Wagner/Waggoner and King connection. Your mtDNA would not be the same as Mary?King's because you are not a direct straight line female descendant, but every piece of evidence helps! I know that Hanuel King's uncles and aunts intermarried with the Wagner/Waggoner family in Greene Co. Tenn. but can't find any evidence of Mary being a daughter of any of them. Do you have a mtDNA record on file with Familytree DNA? I am the surname project manager for a couple of Familtree projects. If you ever have the chance to take a FamilyFinder autosomal test ($99) it is worth every cent and more. It will give you cousin matches up to 6th /distant cousin (usually about 500 of them from both sides of your family) and can answer a lot of these questions.
Thanks again for the new info. Anything I find on the family I will pass along to you to add to your records.
