|Cathey1258||Thomas Gotcher- Veteran's Honor Roll|
This still relates to an interment at Raymond Nausley Farm. Under "Plot" for Thomas Gotcher, you have listed Veteran's Honor Roll. Does this mean that notes somewhere say he is a veteran, or that you actually found him listed on an honor roll? Based on Jackson Co. Probate records I believe Thomas was a very young man, perhaps only 18, who died about Nov. 6, 1861, leaving only a horse and a partial field of wheat. He was already orphaned and was raised in the home of Robert H. Morgan, also interred at this cemetery. I believe the R.J.M. who is buried there is Robert Morgan's son, Robert J. Morgan-- all based on probate records. Anyway, I'd love to know what information you had that Thomas was a veteran. If so, he died very close to the beginning of the war, possibly in an action (Battle of Belmont was Nov. 7) or of disease. I haven't found his name in a regimental list yet. Thanks again.

Thank you for all the work you have done. I am interested in the Raymond Nausley Farm Cemetery, which appears to be a small private cemetery (on private property?)near DeSoto, IL, with only 8 interments. I think I know who some of these people are, based on local probate records. I would like to speak with someone who knows the physical location and whether it is accessible for pictures. I should be in the area in mid September. Thank you.
I'm researching this family. Would you mind telling me what reference/document you have that states he is the son of John and Elizabeth? Most trees I've seen on Ancestry.com have him the son of Matthew and Gertrude. I don't know which is correct. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you related to him? He was my Grandfather, I have requested that he be linked to his father, William C Crow, and see that you were the one who originally entered the information. If you are not related, would you please transfer these to me so that I can maintain them? Thanks, Debbie Bell
|L Moses||Ben J. Bowlin FAG 35060686|
In your posting for the above memorial you noted Ben J. Jones with "Civil War". I am hoping that you may have further information regarding that notation.
I believe that Ben J. may be Benjamin Bowlin of Company C of the 97th IL US INF regiment. I am hoping that his grave is marked with a veteran's tombstone which would confirm this.
I am compiling a list of the men of Calhoun County, IL that served in the Civil War and their final resting places. If this is the same Ben Bowlin he was 23 when he joined Co. C in August 1862 and he served with the 97th until mustered out Jul-29-1865 in Galveston, TX.
I would appreciate any information you may have.
