|Judy Finnegan Geist||Marie Finnegan|
Death: Mar., 1937
Marie was buried 15 Mar 1937. I am not sure how she was related to this family -- if she married into it or was a Finnegan by birth. She was 34 years old at the time of her death and residing on Windsor.
Found this info on Marie Finnegan on the Memorial. My grandmother, Marie Finnegan, died in York, PA, on March 11, 1937, and was buried in Philadelphia in March 1937. These dates would jive. She was 38 at the time of her death.
|Judy Finnegan Geist||Marie and Joseph Finnegan|
Jack - my grandfather is Joseph Finnegan (Sr.), born in February 1891, died in York, PA, in October 1962. I was told he was buried with my grandmother, Marie Fulton, who died in 1937. He was the son of Philip Finnegan. I have the obit stating the burial was in Old Cathedral Cemetery. Any clues?
Thanks - Judy

My name is Judy Finnegan Geist. I am the granddaughter of Joseph and Marie Fulton Finnegan. I will attempt to contact you by e-mail.

Hi. I just saw you sent me a reply to my request in June. I am sorry I am just finding it. I did go on findagrave and not sure these are my Finnegan's but want to tell you my info in case you know of them.
Honora & Patrick Finnegan resided in a few places down on 3rd St and in that area. I have found Honora raised my grandfather until he was old enough to go to Girard College. His Mother died when he was one and the Dad died when he was three.
The parents were George & Mary Shanahan Potts.
My grandfather was the youngest of 6 and not sure who raised the other kids but they were close to the Shanahan relatives as far as I can tell.
Anyway....Honora had a couple sons Michael was one and a daughter Ellen. I don't know if she is a Potts relative or Shanahan but listed on my grandfathers records from Girard College it says she is a great aunt. If any of this jumps into your tree let me know. I believe Honora is buried at Old Cathedral too.
Thanks for the info and I did see the head stone you posted on your gravesite.

I just noticed your memorial for Margaret, I should've looked before I posted. I added the photos to both their memorials.
|Jane McKnight||John Finnegan|
I have been photographing the Old Cathedral Cemetery and found a John Finnegan born 1904 and died 1966, buried with a Margaret Finnegan born 1913 and died 1988. Is this the same John? If so I will be happy to post the photo to his memorial.
Hi Jack - oops, I should have seen your e-mail there! In case others come across this, here's the thumbnail version of the family:
James Finnegan was born c1813 in Ireland and died 28 Jun 1883 (parents & burial place unknown). He married Rosa Fitzpatrick who was born c1820 in Ireland and died 05 Jun 1892 (parents unknown, her memorial is online here). Their known children include Philip A. (1845 Ireland-1911 Philadelphia), Patrick (b. c1846 Ireland), Alice (b. c1848 Ireland, m. Matthew Larney, d. ?), William (b. c1850 Ireland), James (b. c1851 Ireland), Peter (b. c1854 PA, d. 04 Jul 1943 Atlantic City, NJ), Mary (b. 1857 Philadelphia, m. Max Sekel, d. 11 Dec 1910 in Philadelphia), Rose (b. c1858 PA), and Catherine (b. c1860 PA).
I have a lot of information on Mary as she is my direct ancestor, but in learning about her, I found quite a bit on the siblings. The amount of info varies on each, but I'll be in touch via e-mail to exchange more information. I can only go back so far as James & Rosa. All the best!
