Bio and Links
Bio Photo I enjoy doing Genealogy, and always seaching for any and all relations of our families. I started doing this about 12-14 years ago and have enjoyed every minute of it, meeting new relatives, and visiting many of the cemeteries of East Texas. I joined Find a grave about 9 years ago, and it has been a tremendious help in my family searches.

Lowrys in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Boone County
I manage the WGCC and there seems to be a little confusion regarding the burials of James Simpson Lowry, his wife and daughter who are all buried in the WGCC. Elizabeth, their daughter appears to be the earliest known burial in the cemetery in 1831.
There is only one stone with information on both sides.

James S.Lowry
Died, March 25, 1879
Age 78 y 5 m 1 d.

Nancy Wife of J. S. Lowry
Died Sept 26, 1859
Aged 69 y 5m 11 d

Elizabeth Dau of J. S. & N Lowry
Died Dec. 18, 1931
aged 13 y 8 m 15 d.

Gustia McCoy - Earl Augusta McCoy
There are 2 Memorials that you have that are for the same person. Earl Augusta McCoy #34854302 and Gustia McCoy #34854304. One of them should be deleted. I had a request for a picture for Earl Augusta McCoy and got the picture, but the headstone was for Gustia McCoy. There is already a picture for Gustia McCoy.Same person just death dates are one yr off. Thanks, Sharon

Just Curious,There are four Higginbotham buried in Coffeville Cemetery, Ore City, Upshur Co., TX.
Find A Grave#6681551,was a WWI Veteran with Military Head Stone, Wife #6681549, no Headstone, Funeral Home Marker only, #6681548, per records about 20yrs in the U.S. Army, no headstone, funeral marker only, wife #6681566 Funeral Home Marker Only. I thought all Veterans & WIFES ARE ENTITLED to a Military Headstone.

How sure are you about the parentage of Wilma (Gregory) Turman? I've been researching the Giddens family of Red River County for some time, and in both the 1920 & 1930 censuses of Smith County, Mary Elizabeth (Giddens) Gregory, widow of James Richard Gregory (who d. before the 1900 census, possibly in Hunt County), is shown as the "mother-in-law" of Floyd Turman -- and therefore the mother of Floyd's wife, Wilma.

I haven't been able to locate the burial sites of James R. Gregory or Mary E. (Giddens) Gregory on my in-person research trips in north Texas, so I can't supply a Find-a-Grave link for them, but they're probably both buried at Manchester Cemetery in Red River, apparently in unmarked graves.

Mary E. Hitt
Hello, Bonnie. I've been looking into my Hitt family members, lately. I ran across Alfred V. Hitt, and his marriage to an apparent cousin, Mary E. Hitt.

My question is, in regards to carrying her last name on the memorial as "Pool," instead of "Hitt?" Her marriage to James Pool lasted for a couple of years, from August 1865 until his death in 1867. She married Alf in about 1872, and bore all his children, passing in 1901. As awkward as it might seem, shouldn't her memorial be carried as "Hitt" since that was her last husband, and it is on her marker?

I can't prove it very well, but I think her middle name was Emma. I gathered that off of her son, Clifton's D/C. If that is true, it also says that her maiden name was Harris. I leave that up to you, of course. You have noted that Mary was the daughter of Lazarus and Ruth Hitt. I suspect you are correct from what I've seen. I'll dig out some records, soon.

Thanks for all your good work. This is a fun hobby, isn't it? regards, pete

Margareta Overton - Memorial# 58433268 - Follow Up
Bonnie, I'm just following up on the message below which I left for you back in October. Can you contact me when you have a moment? My email address is

Message from October 15th:

Bonnie, hello. It looks like you created this memorial back in 2010. Since you have exact dates for birth and death in the memorial, do you know whether there is an actual headstone in this cemetery (Middleburg Cemetery, Hardeman County, TN) for Margareta, containing this information? If not, do you know where you got the information for her birth and death dates?

Also, you have the following note in the memorial: "Wife of E.H. Overton". Again, I assume this information is coming from a headstone. Can you confirm that?

I believe Margareta Overton may be my 3rd great grandmother, and am trying to piece together information to confirm this. Do you happen to have any other information relating to her? Are you one of her descendants by chance?

Thanks in advance for your help!
